Carmi Times Wednesday June 10, 2009 Carmi, Ill. - Emma M. Foley, 95, Carmi, formerly of Johnston City, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. She was born July 18, 1913 in Hamilton County, the daughter of Fred Hood and Elizabeth Mae Blades. She married Carl Foley in McLeansboro on Jan. 11, 1930, and he preceded her on March 19, 1995. Emma was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church in Johnston City and was a past member of Springerton Christian Church. Emma was very creative and loved to decorate and grow all types of plants. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Carl E. and Eleanor Foley of Chandler, Ind.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Joan South and Sondra and Charles Taylor, all of Johnston City; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and five sisters. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield. Visitation will be held in the funeral home chapel from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at Kitty Sweeten Cemetery in Mill Shoals.
