Carmi Times Thu Aug 13, 2009 Carmi, Ill. - Dorothy Williams, 79, of Carmi, passed away at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born April 14, 1930 in Crossville, the daughter of Harry Opal and Nancy Grace (Higginson) Given. She married Robert Junior "Pud" Williams Dec. 27, 1952, and he preceded her in death Jan. 29, 2004. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Carmi. She was a business manager. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Ray Mitchell of Carmi; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Eileen Norton-Williams of LaGrange; a sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Charles Wilson of Afton, Va.; a brother, Wayne Given of Carbondale; two granddaughters, Katherine Grace and Caroline Rose Norton-Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Given. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery north of Carmi. Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be given in Dorothy Williams' memory to Cherry Street General Baptist Food Pantry or the American Cancer Society. Contributions will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home.
