Carmi Times Mon Aug 10, 2009 McLeansboro, Ill. - Ladorna Maddox, 65, of McLeansboro and formerly of Carmi, passed away at 12:38 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009 at her residence. She was born Dec. 8, 1943 in Phillipstown, the daughter of Charles Marion and Iola Ruth (Elliott) Browning. She was married to Willie Nichols, who proceeded her in death. She then married Henry Theodore Maddox June 24, 1973, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2002. She was a cashier at Wal-Mart in Carmi. Mrs. Maddox attended Georgia General Baptist Church near Carmi. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Roger Nickens of Evansville, Ind.; one son, Ted Maddox; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Janine and Steve Heath of Carmi; two sisters, Betty Fleck of Carmi and Jane Watkins of St., Louis, Mo.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Louie and Mabel Browning of Carmi, Wayne and Diane Browning of Crossville, and Fred and Mary Browning of Kimberling City, Mo.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and a special friend and caregiver, Alfred "Buck" Johnson of McLeansboro. She was preceded in death by one brother Joe Browning. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, the Rev. Dale Boeger officiating.
