Carmi Times Thu Aug 13, 2009 _____ Crossville - Wayne J. Knight, 77, Crossville, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born Oct. 30, 1931 in Grayville, the son of Royal T. and Mary Rebecca "Polly" (Landingham) Knight. He married Gwendolyn Warren on April 28, 1956, and she preceded him in death on May 27, 2003. Mr. Knight was a U.S. Army veteran and served in a medic unit during the Korean Conflict. He was a retired oilfield pumper and a member of Stewart Street Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Chris Kisner of Carmi; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Stanley and Patty Knight of San Leandro, Calif., and Kenneth Knight of Crossville; three sisters, Wilma Woodrow, Betty Michels and Mary Venita Jones, all of Grayville; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald "Easy" Knight of Phillipstown, Royal and Eva Knight of Alabama, Loyal and Gayella Knight, and Bertis Knight, all of Carmi, Vertis Knight of Grayville, and Garrel and Judy Knight of Albion; six grandchildren, April Stephens, Kaylie Goff, Kelsey Kisner, Wayne James Knight, Justin Jones and Lucas Jones; and three great-grandchildren, Chance Grein, Charlotte and Katelyn Stephens. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ladonna Crackle and Viola Hawkins, and one brother, Ed Knight. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Stewart Street Baptist Church in Carmi, Brother Phil Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery north of Carmi. Friends may call from 1 p.m. Sunday until the time of the service. Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
