I'm looking for info on Thomas Drake who appears on the White co IL census in 1830 and 1840. I believe he came from Nelson co KY. Your SGT Bidwell married a Rachel Drake but she is not from my Drake family. However, there was a Cornelius Drake family in Nelson county KY prior to 1790. Cornelius was born abt 1740 and was descended from the so-called "Dutch Drakes" of NY. Thereis evidence he was born in Fishkill, NY and had contact with CT families---his wife was Sarah Worthington from CT. I suggest you look into this Drake line for the SGT's wife.
