Carmi Times Fri Mar 19, 2010 Carmi, Ill. - Edna Grace Robley, 88, Carmi, died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born May 20, 1921, in Carmi, the daughter of James Oscar and Minnie Marie (Hutchcraft) Cherry. She married William Roy Robley on July 21, 1940, and he survives. Mrs. Robley was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church in Carmi. For several years, she worked at Ainsbrooke Corp. (the factory) in Carmi, and later did volunteer work at Wabash Christian Retirement Center. She was a member of the Country Dozen Quilting Club and the White County Homemakers' Extension Association. Survivors include her husband, William Roy Robley of Enfield; two daughters, Jeanette Schalk and her husband Paul of Carmi, and Linda Louise Robley of Mt. Carmel; a brother, Wayne Cherry of Crossville; a sister, Hazel Russell of Carmi; and two grandchildren, Doug Schalk and his wife Amy, and Gayla Schalk and her friend Brett Bishop, all of Carmi. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Minnie Cherry; a daughter, Donna Sue Robley; three brothers, Carl, Edward and Ronnie Cherry; and a sister, Fern Hucker. Visitation and funeral services will be Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Visitation is at noon and continues until funeral time at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Newman Cemetery near Carmi. Memorials may be made to either the White County Senior Citizens or Wabash Christian Retirement Center Activities Department and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi.
