Carmi Times Sun Mar 07, 2010 Carmi, Ill. - James Earl Martin, 73, of Carmi, passed away at 12:25 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. He was born Aug. 31, 1936 in Broughton, the son of Andrew Walters "A.W." and Grace Maude (Shaw) Martin. He married Barbara J. Hucker on Feb. 8, 1964, and she survives. Earl worked as a truck driver. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during peace time, and was a 1952 graduate of Norris City High School. Earl is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara Martin of Carmi; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Garon Baker of Flora; a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Deb Martin of Ames, Iowa; a brother, Wayne Martin of Tullahoma, Tenn.; and three grandsons, Justin Earl and Benjamin Austin Martin and Evan Rix. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi.
