Carmi Times Thu Mar 18, 2010 Carmi, Ill. - Wilma "Aunt Wilma" Wright, 97, Carmi, passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Country Health Nursing Home in Gifford, Ill. She was born May 23, 1912 in White County, a daughter of William and Irene (Phipps) Walker. She married Glenard Gates in 1932 in Carmi. He preceded her in death in 1958. She then married Virgil Wright in 1962 in Carmi. He preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, Bill (Mary) Gates of Pontiac, Ill., and John (Kaye) Gates of Slidell, La.; a daughter, Glenda (Roger) Buchholz of Rantoul; three stepchildren, Doris Jean (Ralph) Anselment of Carmi, Francis Wright and Lois Ann Sheldon, both of Evansville, Ind.; a sister, Christine (John) Schneider of Carmi; many grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a brother and infant twin sisters. She attended First Christian Church of Carmi and First Christian Church of Rantoul. A visitation and funeral service is Saturday, March 20, 2010, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Visitation is at 9 a.m. and continues until funeral time at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Maple Ridge Cemetery, Carmi. Memorials may be made to Provena Covenant Hospice or the donor's choice and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi.
