Carmi Times Mon Mar 15, 2010 Norris City - Reta Douglas, 102, Norris City, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010 at Ridgway Manor in Ridgway. She was born Aug. 3, 1907 near Leamington, near Eagle Creek, the daughter of Charles Ewing and Lynda (Farmer) Edwards. Reta moved to White County, just north of Omaha when she was 4 years old. Reta married William Warren Douglas Dec. 13, 1941, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1991. As a young adult, Reta taught at several White and Gallatin County country schools. She was a member of Village United Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Della and Lee Bollinger of Troy; one brother, Charles F. "Chuck" Edwards of Norris City; a great-grandson, William R. Bollinger of Troy; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Reta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Mildred Desser; a grandson, John Bollinger; a great-grandson, Robert Bollinger; five sisters, Fae Moore, Osawayne Bartnicki, Ada Edwards, Ama Mosby and Roxie Dry; and a brother, Elmo W. Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Burial will be in Mt. Oval Cemetery near Norris City.
