Spence The late Carl Shelton's database has this family back to 1795, including at least one Spence family living in Carmi today. They are related to the Hoskins family, and descend from a Bryant branch, one of Carl's main lines. However, when I tried to mail Larry back at [email protected] I got one of those "we have to check you out" emails from earthlink, so I think it is unlikely I will hear back from him, as he may not understand the verification process. I responded to the intercept email but did express some displeasure, as it is a common problem for genealogy moderators. Since you are on this list, you probably understand more about email, but if you know Larry ask him to change his settings. Larry is not on the White County list. BTW, if you expect to get any responses from ancestry/rootsweb queries you need to set your ancestry account to allow free access to your email addy, rather than going through ancestry's messaging service or whatever they call it. It is ancestry's attempt at becoming a social networking site. Cindy
