Carmi Times Tue Jan 19, 2010 Carmi, Ill. - Maxine A. Dietz, 89, Centralia, formerly of Carmi, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2009 at Friendship House of Centralia in Centralia. She was born Nov. 8, 1920 in Norris City, the daughter of George Cecil and Myrtle Louella (Shain) Spence. She married Cletus Ambrose Dietz Oct. 7, 1940, and he preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1972. She was a photography assistant for Dietz Studio. She was a member of Demaree United Methodist Church in Centralia, the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Judith A. and Dallas Douglas of Centralia; a son and daughter-in-law, Alan Richard and Beverly Dietz of Olney; four grandchildren, Roxy Felio, Dallas Douglas, Penny Spoylar and Shane Dietz; six great-grandchildren, Maddie Felio, Brady Felio, Max Felio, Michael Spoylar, Sarah Spoylar and Kristen Spoylar; and a brother-in-law, Burnis Dixon of Carmi. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Opal Shaw, Imogene Harrington and Madeline Dixon; and a brother, Eugene Spence. Graveside funeral services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010 at White County Memorial Garden, the Rev. Brad Henson officiating. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
