    3. Carmi Times Mon Feb 08, 2010 Norris City, Ill. - Wanda Louise Greer, 88, Marion, formerly of Norris City, passed away at 6 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at the home of her daughter in Marion. She was born on July 2, 1921, in Gallatin County, the daughter of Earl Ezekial and Eva Mae (Childers) Jones. Wanda was united in marriage to Arthur Wayne Greer on Nov. 13, 1943, at Jackson, Mo., and together they shared nearly 54 years of marriage until his death came on Sept. 8, 1997. She worked during World War II at an ammunition plant at Evansville, Ind. and later as a butcher for the IGA Food Store and manager of a convenience store, both in Norris City. In the early 1980s, she and her husband moved to Florida, and she worked as a director of a day care center until they returned to Norris City in the early 1990s and later moved to the Marion area. She was a member of All Nations Church north of Marion. She is survived by her daughter, Gayle England of Marion; granddaughter, Shawna Michelle Spiller of Herrin; grandson, Seth Greer George of Marion; great-granddaughter, Lyla Catherine George of Herrin; two great-grandsons, Caleb Andrew George and Liam Alexander George, both of Herrin; three sisters, Thedola "Teddy" Lacefield of St. Louis, Mo., Opal Hackerson of Evansville, Ind. and Marveunene "Marv" Boster of Holbrook, Pa.; two close sisters-in-law, Novella Jones of Carmi and Joyce Jones of McLeansboro; a close friend, Naomi Turner of Marion; a host of nieces and nephews; the employees and clients of Addus Adult Center of Marion; and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Freta Hullett and Novella Healy; and two brothers, Louis and Ivan Jones. Friends may call from 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11 until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. at Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion. Interment will follow in Powell Cemetery near Norris City. Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association and mailed in care of Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, PO Box 370, Marion, IL 62959. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
