Carmi Times Thu Feb 25, 2010 Mill Shoals, Ill. - Lou Eva Stewart, 89, Mill Shoals, died at 12:59 p.m. Wednesday, Fe. 24, 2010 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. She was born Sept. 25, 1920 at Burnt Prairie, the daughter of Silas and Hattie (Phillips) Carter, and was married Oct. 19, 1936 to John Charles Vaught, who died Feb. 5, 1960. She was married in January 1980 to Noel Stewart, who died in December 1980. Mrs. Stewart worked as a young woman at an International Shoe Co. factory and later for the Rex Filter Co. in Barnhill. She was the oldest living member of Liberty Baptist Church at Burnt Prairie and was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star (and a past worthy matron). Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Gene Eblen of Mill Shoals; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Gary Tracy of White House, Tenn.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Idalene Carter of Fairfield, Jim and Kay Carter of Evansville, Ind., and Bill and Charlene Carter of Mill Shoals; 11 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, two sons, two brothers, a half-brother, two half-sisters, a stepgreat-grandchild and a great-great-grandchild. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Liberty Baptist Church in Burnt Prairie, Brother Tim Collins officiating, with burial in Burnt Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 Saturday evening at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield.
