Carmi Times Thu Feb 11, 2010 Viola Rose (Weaver) Lawrence, 92, Enfield, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was born Aug. 15, 1917 in Norris City, the daughter of Ernest Joseph and Ella May (Hopper) Weaver. She married John Timothy Lawrence Feb. 8, 1939, and he preceded her in death July 29, 1997. Surviving are three daughters and a son-in-law, Lou and Garry Phillips of Makanda, Ruth Ann Payne of Flora and Nancy Lawrence of Neoga; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jim Lawrence of Carmi, and Joe and Sonja Matkins Lawrence of Fredericktown, Mo.; a sister, Ella May Brown of Harrisburg; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, John Lawrence; a grandson, Garry Lynn Phillips; a sister, Katherine Delap; and two brothers, Lloyd Burnett and Lesley Weaver. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery.
