Betty J. Hequembourg, 85, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away at 4:37 P.M. on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at her residence in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. She was born on December 3, 1924 in Tamaroa, Illinois the daughter of the late Charles Willis and Marietta Marlow. She married John H. Hequembourg on June 8, 1946 in St. Louis, Missouri and he preceded her in death on May 31, 1968. Surviving family members include her 2 Brothers: Joe Willis of Carmi, Illinois and Jack Willis and wife Carol of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Her parents, husband, and one brother: Charles Willis preceded her in death. Betty retired from the accounting department at Missouri Pacific Railroad and was a member of the American Legion Post #141 Auxiliary and AMVETS Post #4 Auxiliary, Ladies of the Moose Lodge #755, Mt. Vernon Sportsman Club and first woman member of the Elks Lodge #819. FUNERAL SERVICE: will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. INTERMENT: Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. VISITATION: will be held from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
