Carmi Times Mon Feb 15, 2010 Carmi, Ill. - Mary C. "Carolyn" Bratton, 85, of Carmi, passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center. She was born June 25, 1924, in Maunie, the daughter of William and Iona (Emery) Hutchison. She married John E. Bratton on April 21, 1946 in Carmi, and he preceded her in death May 25, 1997. She worked alongside of her husband at their business, Bratton's Toggery, for 40 years. She was a member of First Christian Church in Carmi. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Trudy and Dennis Jacobs of Carmi; a grandson, John Alex Jacobs of Carmi; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Morris Ray and Debbie Hutchison of Carmi, Doyle and Lorene Hutchison of Cedar Hill, Mo., and Marian West of Norris City, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Hutchison. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair in Carmi, the Rev. David Bratton officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place in North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi.
