Carmi Times Mon Feb 15, 2010 Carmi, Ill. - Guy R. Moats, 86, of Carmi, passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Carmi. He was born Dec. 27, 1923 in Wayne County, the son of Joseph A. and Emma Dora (Steffens) Moats. He married Marilyn Joyce Boehringer on Oct. 11, 1953, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 4, 2007. Guy worked for 28 years for Arnold Vaughan. He was a member of Carmi Church of the Nazarene. He is survived by four nieces, Joselene Smith, Mava Moats, Mary Moats and Dora Schnell; a nephew, Tex Moats; and a sister-in-law, Genevieve Moats, all of whom live in Fairfield. In addition to his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Rex Oliver Moats and Charlie Franklin Moats. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair in Carmi. Visitation will be held from 9 am until the time of service in the chapel.
