Carmi Times Wed Feb 10, 2010 Grayville, Ill. - James Levi Orr, 91, died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at his home in Grayville. He was born April 20, 1918, in rural Wayne County, the son of James Asa and Minnie Dell (Levi) Orr. He was married to Emma Phillips on Dec. 25, 1943, and she survives. Jim worked for over 50 years at O.H. & F. Oilfield Services in Grayville, where he was office manager and bookkeeper. He was a member of First Christian Church in Grayville, where he served as a church elder and Sunday school teacher. He was a past president of Chapter 11 of the Independent Accountants Association of Illinois, and he was an enrolled agent to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, was a past member of the Grayville school board and was named Grayville Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year in 1982. Survivors include his wife, Emma Orr of Grayville; two sons, Robert Orr and his wife, Pam, of Albion, and Philip Orr of Grayville; three daughters, Nancy Adams and her husband, Michael, of Killeen, Texas, Mary Weber and her husband, Jeff, of Manteno, and Carol Jackson and her husband, Glenn, of Mt. Erie; one brother, Forrest Orr and his wife, Ruth, of Evansville, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Minnie Orr; a brother, Carroll Orr; and two sisters, Wanda and LaJune. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Funeral is at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.
