In the 1850 Census, John Blacklidge and his wife Nancy are listed with eight children, one Fred[erick] might be my gggrandfather. In the 1880 census Frederick and his wife Amanda (Frederick and Amanda Tate listed IL marriage index m. 3/7/1874). One of their children, Charles Albert is my gggrandfather. Frederick died probably that year, Amanda married Richard M. Greer Mar. 13, 1889. Charles Albert Blackledge married Mary Buttery Mar, 18, 1896. My mother believes they had one child,"Millie." I do not know what happened to that marriage, but Charles Albert later married Nancy Ann Short and they, and the Greers moved to St. Louis, with my grandfather William in tow. I have not yet sent off to get official documentation of much of this (poverty strikes), except looking at census pages, indexes, and family markers. Charles Albert and his wife are buried in! St. John's Cemetary in St. Louis. Hope this helps someone...I would really like to get some more info on the Blackledge line, the Nancy Short and her line, and whatever else anyone would like to share.
