I'm not an expert on this branch of the family, but I believe Elizabeth is the daugther of Jacob Maricle (b. ca. 1783 in Camden, NJ, son of George Maricle, b. ca. 1755) and Sarah Arbaugh (b. April 15, 1792 in Lewisburg, Greenbrier Co., WVA). Elizabeth Maricle was born June 14, 1820 (Greenbrier Co., WVA) and she was married Jan. 4, 1837 in TN to James Tate, who was born Apr. 24, 1810. They were living in Saline IL at the time of the 1850 Census. James died on Nov. 24, 1880. Elizabeth died Feb. 12, 1903. She is buried in the West Antioch Baptist Cemetery in Mill Shoals, White Co, IL. I would imagine that James is buried there as well, but I have not confirmed that. They had a big family--I think 14 children. Jerry Mericle, Silvetta Parsons, and Gordon Maricle are good sources of info on this branch of the family. Sincerely, Mimi Kotner.
