Thanks Ladybug, At this time the 1870 census is the latest that both Libraries have indexed and searchable. I think they are to add more. In the "Search Census" i put in the name Hutchcraft -1870 and there were about 49 that came up. The "Search Books" has a lot of information- both on people and places. I decided to look again - tuned in to the Freemont Library site that has been listed. Read several counties in CT in 1870. Went and had lunch - returned to read more - required a log-in..... go-figure. ladybug ----- Original Message ----- From: Evalyn Turner <eturner@ccrtc.com> To: <ILWHITE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 10, 2002 1:16 PM Subject: [ILWHITE] Censuses online > Thanks Ladybug, > > At this time the 1870 census is the latest that both Libraries have indexed > and searchable. I am not an authority, but it is my understanding that the Heritage Site is only available for libraries at this stage. Our local library (CA) has been discussing the possiblity of subscribing. Ancestry.com has a subscription fee to access the census, etc. I believe the "Census On Line" site is still active. It does have the cenus for some areas, but there is no index. I am always greatful to the volunteers who extract data and put indexes and other searchable data online. THANKS to ALL of you who spend so much time and effort to assist us with our research.
