I must have missed the original discussion about a book, but maybe this will help. Recently I went to my library and asked them to request the "History of White County" through the Inter Lending Library program. About six weeks later, it arrived on microfilm. However, it was not what I had requested. It turned out to be much better: it was "Illinois County Histories: Washington, Wayne, and White Counties" #332 thru 337, Reel 89. Gallatin County was included at the end of White County. This was one reel from the book: County & Regional Histories of the Old Northwest, Series 4, Illinois. The film was for my use in the library for 30 days. It included photographs of local dignitaries, homes, maps of the area, plats with resident names listed on each one, biographies, names of those in various wars, and so much more. The film was from the university in Terre Haute, Indiana. This was especially valuable to me as my ancestors came from Wayne, White, and Gallatin counties. What a wonderful surprise and aid to my research! Good luck.
