In my notes for the 1860 Census of Hamilton County, I do not have a Cassandra listed. We originally thought that Sarah C. (Davis) Willis was married to Eli before he married Harriett (Gatlin). But in his Pension records, it does not refelect that. Instead it shows he was married first to Harriett, then to Sarah C. Davis, and last to Elizabeth Ann Burris. So we thought that James H. Willis found in the 1850 Census of Hamilton County was a step son of Harriett's. He must have been Harriett's son, or Eli got his two wives (Harriett and Sarah) mixed up. Nor do I know anything about the Thomas J. as a son of Harriett or Sarah. Ron Sanders Prospect, KY

    3. No, she doesn't appear in 1850 - 1860 - 1880 census...I really don't know where I came up w/her name and vitals..... But the census clearly indicates Harriet was wife 1850 & 1860, died in 1870 and Sarah C is wife in 1880. 3. I just spent most of the afternoon reading the White & Saline County sites... nothing listed for Willis in any of vitals...birth, marriage, death, cemeteries. They are not as UP as Hamilton County site. So, will have to depend on volunteers from those counties. 3. F Y O - I DID find, in White County files, the following: Felix H. Willis wed Mary Jane Miller 10-31-1838 (or 11-7-1838?) Hardy Willis wed Siney Lane 9-14-1819 (we knew that) James Willis wed Susan Absher 9-18-1829 - all in White County. ----- Original Message ----- From: <PapawRon@aol.com> To: <ILWHITE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, August 20, 2002 1:51 PM Subject: Re: [ILWHITE] Eli Willis family 1821 - 1894 > In a message dated 08/20/2002 1:39:09 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > ladybug@arends-sons.com writes: > > << I have as children of Eli and Harriett: > Celia A. 3. Ron: also, on Census Index, I found 1860 Saline County - Sarah C. Willis p. 1017 Eli Willis p. 893 1850 White County - Elias Willis & Alfred Willis p. 307 1860 White County - Elias Willis & Hepsanda Willis p. 456. Also: Do you need any of this: Elbert Willis b. abt 1830 IL (brother to Eli?) Emily Willis b. abt 1849 living w/John Daily family in 1860 Hamilton County Census Catherine Willis b. abt 1846 living w/James Allen family 1860 Hamilton County Census Frances Willis (female) b. abt 1843 living w/Hugher family in 1850 Hamilton County census Rebecca Willis wed James Nations 2-12-1850 (forgot to write county) 1850 Unity C. Willis, age 9 female living w/John McDaniels in Hamilton County 1880 census children listed w/Elias and Sarah C. Willis are: James son age ? b. ? ? dau ? ? Thomas J. son ? ? (this is from "yesterday's" site - I have not seen the original) These are all my "notes" I have made last two days - plus what you gave me. Still don't have Eli's place of death or burial - and that is all I started out looking for (smile).
