Thelma Fulkerson, Carmi IL, May 5, 2012 Thelma Catherine Fulkerson, 87, of Carmi passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Winchester House in Libertyville, Illinois, where she was receiving rehabilitation therapy. She was born October 24, 1924, in Centerville, Illinois, the daughter of Harry and Bertha (Heil) Savage. Thelma married Louis Ray Fulkerson on August 18, 1945, and he preceded her in death on April 10, 1979. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carmi. Thelma was a homemaker and bookkeeper for her husband's Mobil Oil business. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Thelma is survived by two daughters, Connie O'Neal of Vernon Hills, IL.,and Cathy Fulkerson of Evansville, IN; a granddaughter Holly O'Neal and her fiancee Doug Townsend of Vernon Hills, IL, and her great-granddaughter Olivia Ann Walker of Vernon Hills, IL., who was the" light of her life."; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty Blackford and Donna (John) Neal, a brother and sister-in-law Ronald (Linda) Savage all of Carmi and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers Owen and Jack. Funeral services for Thelma C. Genevieve Proctor, Carmi, May 6, 2012 Genevieve Proctor, 93, of Carmi passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 9:00am at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born July 11, 1918 in Dahlgren, IL the daughter of John and Stella (Sink) Witters. Genevieve married Norwood F. "Woody" Proctor on July 24, 1937 and he preceded her in death on February 18, 2002. She was a homemaker and a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Genevieve is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Woodra and Danny Hamilton of Mt. Vernon, IL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Nancy Proctor of Carmi and John and Janet Proctor of Enid, OK; a sister, Nadine Curlock of Dahlgren; a sister-in-law, Betty Witters of Marion, IL; seven grandchildren, Shelda Noto, Bethany Gingrich, John A. Whetstone, age 86, of Carmi, were held Sunday, April 15, 2012 at 2 p.m., at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi. Friends and family visited together Saturday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The Burnt Prairie Masonic Lodge performed Masonic Burial Rites at 5 p.m. Pilgrim Burial Rites were performed at 7:30 p.m. by The Loyal Order Of Moose. Chaplain Mike Fields opened the service by reading Mr. Whetstone's obituary. Musicians Dr. Fred L. Smith and Marjorie Brown performed the hymn "How Great Thou Art." Chaplain Fields delivered the message, and closed the service in prayer. Bonnie was born August 14, 1944 in New Haven, IL, the daughter of Clarence and Irene (Powell) Cobb. She married David E. Glascock on June 28, 1975. Bonnie had worked as a nurse's aid. Bonnie is survivied by her husband of 36 years, David of Carmi; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Linda Glascock of Carmi; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ilene and Milas Littrell of Concord and Faye and Richard Pollard of Carmi; a brother, Robert Cobb of Carmi; and three grandchildren, Christopher, Zachary and Olivia Browning. She was born on March 24, 1922 in White County, the daughter of Will and Anna Simmons. Amy's working career was with the rationing board in Carmi and as a bookkeeper for Williams Implement Company in Carmi where she met her husband, Carleton Apple. She and Carleton were married on December 8, 1945 and together they shared 64 years of marriage until his passing on December 2, 2009. Amy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was actively involved in farming with Carleton, supporting his civic, church, and farm organization activities. She attended the First Christian Church in Enfield and previously the Enfield and Wesley Chapel United Methodist Churches. She was active in church events and phone ministry. Survivors include her two daughters, Carla Cook of Winchester, Ind. and Kathy (Bill) Cooper of Carterville; three grandchildren, Greg (Elizabeth) Cook of Webster Grove, Mo., Jana (Daniel) Jordan of Indianapolis, Ind. and Camron Gates of Carterville; and two great grandchildren, Maggie and Elliott Cook of Webster Grove, Mo. to whom she is GG. Bobbie was well known over the years for her beautiful oil paintings, china painting and creations along with knitting and crochet. She made many items over the years to give to the needy. People will always remember going by her house with the real Caboose sitting in the backyard that she loved dearly. Bobbie loved her family most of all, including her husband, son and daughter in law and her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed in the Omaha area. o Christene O. Brandenstein, age 77, of Carmi, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Phoenix Rehabilitation and Nursing Care surrounded by her loved ones. She was born September 9, 1934, in Holdenville, Okla., the daughter of Elmer and Lorene (Lucas) Sexton. She married Allen Brandenstein on October 30, 1965 in Carmi, and he survives. Christene was a nurse at the Skilled Care Nursing Home for many years. She was a member of Stewart Street Baptist Church. Christene is survived by her husband of 46 years, Allen Brandenstein; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kim and Juan Martinez of Evansville, Ind., and Kari Brandenstein of Carmi; a granddaughter, Josie Martinez, of Evansville, Ind.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Maxine Maier of Carmi, and Sue and Dean Gilbert of Decatur; and a brother and sister-in-law, Darrel and Helen Sexton of Carmi; four sisters-in-law, Jan Sexton of Carmi, Sandy Sexton of El Cajon, Calif., Ramona (John) Welker of Carmi, Kathy Brandenstein of Spencer, W.V.; and many special nieces and nephews. Christene is preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Gerald, Leland, and Kenny Sexton. Private family services will be held at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi.
