Cindy, I am glad you did send it to everyone. I, too, plan to come to Carmi for family research purposes and was just about to ask if I could meet with you, also. I e-mailed you several years ago when I began my family history project and you kindly sent me what you had on my Miller family ancestry. My grandmother was Clara (Miller) Greene who was married to Dr. Milton Silas Greene, a local physician. I am also trying to locate my Wallace roots, particularly Morgan and Malinda (Mayes) Wallace's graves. They were my great great grandparents. I will probably be in Carmi on Monday, October 8 and plan to stay several days visiting graves and the genealogy library, in particular. If you would have a spare moment, I would love to touch base with you if you have a moment to spare. Sound like you are very busy. Margaret, That sounds like a plan. I would like to get together with you, too. I work, from 8 to 2 or so at the senior center in Carmi, which is downtown and a block from the courthouse, and the about the same distance from the genealogy library. After that I come to my home office and do accounting until I'm too tired to work. I'm a big fan of the genealogy library, it has so much available. They have an obit index that is wonderful, and many surname files. From the courthouse the thing I have found most useful are the file boxes of probates. All the little slips of paper and listings of activity, and information that you just can't find elsewhere. They are in the circuit clerks office. The library is open Tuesday-Friday from 11:30 to 4:30, so coming Tuesday or Wednesday would be best for me. Come to the senior center for lunch and then I could run over to the library and get you started. If you have Norris City or Grayville people the libraries in those towns are good, and you never know what you might find in the genealogy section of the Carmi library. The public library is working on their family history section, it was pushed to a corner when they opened their new building and who knows what was lost. What cemeteries are you looking for? There have been several readings done, and there are some at the library never published. Lecta and Diane can help you there. I can check out some cemeteries but have a lot of work duties the first week of the month at the center, and have several tax returns due 10/15. You have heard that the New Harmony bridge is closed, so that adds about 10 miles to the one way trip. Such a mess. Cindy, I am going to my HS reunion in New Harmony next week. I will be arriving on 30 Sept and leaving on 7 October. Could we get together? I want to go to the cemeteries in White County and look at any records that are available. I would LOVE to pick your brain and hear what you have to tell me about the local records. I am in particular looking for the parents of Susan Ann (Suzanne) Clark. She had 5 husbands the last of which was my great grandfather Robert Coleman Hughes. I am REALLY about against that brick wall with her parents. I will be really to go on Monday morning 1 October. Looking forward to meeting you. Margaret E. Ullman

Yes Cindy I remember this connection with you and Verla Savage and myself. It's been since 2003 that I communicated with Linda and her mom and wrote back and forth exchanging photos etc. I can't believe it, yes Dana is 103 according to my dates. I just wrote to Linda yesterday sending my condolences and sorry that it was this occasion that got me back in touch with her but that I would like to revisit our communications when the time is right for her. Is Dana aware mentally? My mother is 90 and other than some muscle weakness that we are attributing to her cholestrol medicine making her walking difficult, if she keeps up like she is now, she will definitely pass 100. I hope to hear from Linda - I have recently been making family connections on the Skiles/Wilson line who are living in Mt. Vernon...... Grandchildren from my grandmother's sister that we never knew (died in a car accident in 1957) and Dana's father was their uncle. So I'd like Linda to know about these new found members.
