He was born August 13, 1966, in Monticello, N.Y., the son of Charles B. and Ann C. (Hotchkiss) Evans. David worked at the Carmi Country Club for many years maintaining the golf course. He is survived by his girlfriend, Dana Brownfield; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mike Evans of Carmi, and Danny and Sheri Evans of Georgia; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Patti and Charles Y. Acord of Carmi, and Bonnie Mowry of South Carolina; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Cindy Rohmann; and a brother-in-law, Bob Mowry. Private family services will be held.     3. * OBITUARY: Jean Anselment * Oct. 5, 2012 1 p.m. * Wauwatosa, Wis. -- Jean (Tallman) Anselment, 86, of Wauwatosa, Wis. and formerly of Sycamore, peacefully left us for Heaven September 22, 2012. She was married to Kenneth L. Anselment for 59 years. He preceded her in death. Jean is the loving mother of Kenneth L. (Angela) Anselment Jr.; treasured grandma of Kenneth L. (Gabrielle) Anselment III, Christine (Jeffrey) Mikula and Marianne (John) Callaghan; proud great grandma of Ryan, Katie, Mary Kate, Joe, John, Patrick and Colleen; and dear sister of Thora Burgess. Jean is also lovingly remembered by Linda (David) Searcy, Janet Davy and Mark Burgess, and other family and friends. She was preceded to Heaven by her twin brother John M. Tallman Jr. and sisters Carolyn Miller and Ruth Mueller. A private family memorial service will be held. Memorials in Jean's name may be made to St. Camillus Foundation and are appreciated.     3. * OBITUARY: William E. "Bill" Pierson * ct. 5, 2012 1 p.m. * William E. "Bill" Pierson, 91, of Carmi, passed away Friday morning, October 5, 2012 at his home. He was born December 25, 1920 in Princeton, Ind., the son of William E. and Mona (Walker) Pierson. Bill was raised in the Carmi area and graduated from Carmi High School. He married Alberta Miller June 22, 1947 and she preceded him in death November 6, 1981. Bill was a Navy veteran of WWII where he served in the Pacific with the 50th Seabees for three years and 12 days. He was a lifetime contractor and co-owner of Pierson and Pyle Steel Contractors. Bill was a 68-year member of the American Legion, a lifetime member of the VFW and Elks, and a charter member of the Carmi Country Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Paula Pierson of Carmi; a daughter, Stella Wolf of Newburgh, Ind.; five grandchildren, Beth (Jeremy) Hafele of Evansville, Ind., Bill (Sara) Arbaugh of Evansville, Ind., Penny (Danny) Goodman of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Leslie (Mark) Kessler of Carmi and Dan Arbaugh of Evansville, Ind.; six great-grandchildren, Selah and Isaiah Goodman, Matthew and Jacob Hafele, and Aubrey and Blake Kessler; a sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Jim Jones of Murray, Ky.; a brother and sister-in-law, Loren and Imogene Pierson of Homewood; and a sister-in-law, Jerry Pierson of Oklahoma City, Okla. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Helen Presley, and brother, Samuel "Jim" Pierson. Funeral services for William E. "Bill" Pierson, 91, of Carmi, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Mike Buckman officiating. Burial will be in Big Prairie Cemetery near Carmi.     3. * OBITUARY: Willard Unfried * October 01. 2012 5:00PM Carmi, IL * Willard A. Unfried, age 82, of Evansville, Ind. passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at his home. Mr. Unfried was a 57-year member of Sheet Metal Workers Local #20. He was a member of Resurrection Catholic Church and a veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War. Willard enjoyed woodworking, was a longtime Democrat Precinct Committeeman in German Township and a member of the German Township Fire Department. Surviving Willard are his wife of 60 years, Mary Beth Unfried; a daughter, Shari (Ed) Seitz of Evansville, Ind.; three sons, David (Terri) Unfried, Mark (Shelley) Unfried and Keith (Lori) Unfried, all of Evansville, Ind.; three sisters, Mary Frances (Jerry) Ellison of Newburgh, Ind., Margaret (Harold) Stahl of Carmi and Teresa (Obie) Viland of Sandwich; and a brother, Lawrence Unfried of Enfield. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012 at Resurrection Catholic Church, with Rev. Raymond Brenner and Rev. Phil Kreilein officiating. Burial followed in St. Patrick's Church Cemetery in Enfield. Friends visited with the family from 2 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Pierre Funeral Home in Evansville, Ind. where a memorial service was conducted at 5 p.m. Friends also visited with the family from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Monday, Oct. 1 at Resurrection Church. He was born February 5, 1927, in Inglenook, Ala., the son of George J. and Elsie (Ingram) Ashabraner. He married Martha Jenkins on August 27, 1945 in Hopkinsville, Ky., and she survives. Earl was an Army veteran. He had worked and retired from the railroad. He is survived by his wife, Martha; and good friends, Karla and Bill Taylor and Mary and Gary Cates. He is preceded in death by his parents. A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at White County Memorial Garden in Carmi. Reverend Mike Buckman will officiate. Sandi was a 1973 graduate of Carmi Community High School, worked at Walmart as a stocker and was a member of First Baptist Church in Carmi. Sandi is survived by a daughter, Alyssa Slankard of Carmi; a sister, Diana Bowles of Carmi; two nephews, Jason Frailey and Nicholas Bowles; and her beloved cats, Gypsy and Patches. She was born December 24, 1920, in Carmi, the daughter of William and Alvina (Kallenbach) Seitz. Marjorie worked at the Carmi Ainsbrook Factory until it closed, the Carmi Senior Citizens Center, and was later a care giver. She was an active member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi where she was always among the first to arrive at church functions. Marjorie loved singing in the church choir. Survivors include a sister, Helen (Leon) Terry of Carmi; sister-in-law Pat Seitz; nieces Janet (Rick) Steiner, Sue Ninness, Gay Kuhn, Susan (Michael) Cohen, Jane Sykes and Bob Sykes, Emilie (Kent) Cutchin; nephews Alan (Imogene "Gene") Ninness, Roger Ninness and Peggy, Don (Ann) Ninness, Bill (Linda) Terry, Rodney (Tamara) Collard; 20 great nieces and nephews; 21 great great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Ralph Seitz and infant Elmer Seitz; sisters Frances Ninness, Berneda Fuller, Norma Mattingly; brothers in law Allen Ninness, Cliff Fuller, Ransom Mattingly; nephew Marty Kuhn. He was born March 30, 1933, in Springerton, the son of Grover Cleveland and Pearl (Siefried) York. He married Clara M. Baker on November 19, 1952 in Pocohantas, Ark., and she preceded him in death on September 10, 2003. Charles farmed in the Springerton area most of his life. He was an avid hunter. He was a member of the Springerton Christian Church. He is survived by a son, Michael R. York, of Springerton; a daughter and son-in-law, Hope and John Martin Williams, of McLeansboro; seven grandchildren, Wesley F. York, Sean M. (Emily Hodge) York, Mary M. York, Michaela L. Scattone, and Benjamin C. Scattone, Amy E. Evans and Justin T. Williams; three great-grandchildren, Sawyer Hodge, Owen B. Jaeger and Davis W. Evans; one brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Betty Jo York of Carmi; and two sisters, Violet Smith and Betty Lou Clark both of Carmi. He was born December 20, 1927 in Centerville, the son of Clarence and Ethel (Cox) Brown. He first married Lillian "Deanie" Mick and she preceded him in death in 1965. He then married Betty McNeill and she survives. Archie has farmed his entire life. In 1951 he started, Brown Feed and Chemical and remained active until his illness. He was a member of the Carmi Elks Club and had also been a member of the Eagles. He was an avid supporter of Carmi sports. Archie had coached Babe Ruth baseball and had championship teams during his tenure. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Betty; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Jeannie Brown of Carmi and Gary and Marilyn Brown of Crossville; one daughter, Donna McCord of Carmi; one step-son, Tom Muse of Carmi; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother and sister-in-law, Leroy and Verla Brown of Carmi. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Robert A., Charles and Clarence Ray Brown; three sisters, Mae Burrows, Lucille Newcomb and Louise Kiefer; and one step-son, David Muse. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Carmi with burial in White County Memorial Garden.     3. * OBITUARY: Bernard "Barney" Kisner * September 24. 2012 6:00PM Carmi, IL * Bernard "Barney" H. Kisner, 94, of Grand Island died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012 at St. Francis Skilled Care. Mr. Kisner was born on January 12, 1918 in Brownsville to Talmage E. and Jessie L. (Hughes) Kisner. He was united in marriage to Jo Ann Wehrle at Carmi on October 26, 1946. Barney grew up in Brownsville where he attended Walnut Grove Country School. He graduated from Carmi High School in 1941 and the University of Illinois in 1945 with a Bachelor of Arts. He entered the United States Army on January 14, 1943 and served during World War II and the Korean War. Barney received the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Bronze Star Medal, the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on April 5, 1952. Following his discharge from the Army, the couple farmed in Illinois until moving to Nebraska in 1966 where they opened the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Kearney. They later opened KFCs in Grand Island and Hastings, which they owned and operated until retiring in 1984. Barney was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Elks Club, the National Rifle Association, and the National Wild Turkey Federation. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish at his cabin on the North Loup River. Barney is survived by his wife, Jo Ann, of Grand Island, several nieces and nephews, two brothers-in-law, Charles Wehrle of Phoenix, Ariz., John (Barbara) Wehrle of Lincoln, and a sister in law, Verna Rudolph, of Mt. Vernon, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Wilford T. Kisner, three sisters, Winifred Weirauch, Mary Doris Lewis and Marguerite Perkins, and a brother-in-law, Robert Wehrle. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 25 in Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Reverend Jay Vetter will officiate. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, September 24 with the family receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.     3. * OBITUARY: Judith Ann (Given) Geurin * September 24. 2012 6:00PM Carmi, IL * Judith Ann (Given) Geurin, died Sunday, September 23, 2012 in Gaylord, Mich. after a long fight with Alzheimer's disease. Judy was born June 5, 1939, at her family's farmhouse in Crossville. She was the only child of Fred A. and Laura (Carr) Given. She married Robert Geurin 50 years ago and he survives. Judy lived for many years in Fraser, Mich. before retiring and moving to Northern Michigan. She spent her career teaching English for Roseville Public Schools. Well versed in literature and passionate about writing, she touched the lives of many students with her wit and enthusiasm for learning. Judy enjoyed traveling with her husband, Bob; meeting people, seeing new places, reading from her numerous guidebooks and trying new food. Her family and friends always appreciated her for her gift of storytelling, turning even the most ordinary into hilarity. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Robert Geurin; her daughter, Quinanne, and husband Jim; and three granddaughters, Bryn, Zander and Devin Short of Porterville, Calif. Following cremation, Judy will be buried in Crossville at a later date. Memorial Contributions may be made to Mercy Hospice through the Nelson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1548, Gaylord, MI 49734.
