He was born December 13, 1957, in Carmi, the son of John A. and Shirley (Stein) Williams. Randy was a machine operator at the sawmill for many years. He was an avid train enthusiast. He is survived by his father and step-mother, John A. and Barbara Williams, of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; a son, Nathan Williams, of Enfield; two brothers and a sister-n-law, John Williams of McLeansboro, and Brian S. and Judy Williams of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Rose Lee Katherine and Dennis Knight of Mt. Vernon, Ill., and Teresa and Stephen Kirkpatrick of Mt. Vernon, Ill.; a grandson, Chase Martin Williams of Enfield; nine nieces and nephews; and many friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley, in 2004. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2012, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield.     3. * OBITUARY: Chelsea Erkman * Nov. 12, 2012 7 a.m. * Enfield -- Chelsea Erkman, 88, of Enfield passed away at 5:57 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Phoenix Nursing and Rehab in Carmi. He was born in Enfield on August 11, 1924, the son of Edward and Agnes Dora (Lichtenberger) Erkman. Chelsea married the love of his life, Pauline Smith, on December 24, 1944. Chelsea was a grain and livestock farmer for over 45 years. He was a life long member and deacon of Enfield Christian Church. He served as a trustee of Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi and on the board of directors of Wabash Valley Service Company. Chelsea is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Pauline; a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Frank Musgrave of Carmi; a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Vicki Erkman of Carmi; four grandchildren, Deon Hall and her husband, Terry, Kathleen Fulkerson and her husband, Joey, Devin Lane and her husband, Joey and Lauren Musgrave and her fiancée, Nathan Whetstone; two step-grandchildren, David Mitchell and his wife, Danyelle and Pam Haywood and her husband, Matt; 14 great grandchildren, Tyson Musgrave, Austin Ritcheson, Carly Fulkerson, Jase and Nate Kiefer, Ty, Ashton and Tucker Lane, Isabella Hall, Makayla Blazier, Macen and Max Haywood and Seth and Lexi Mitchell; and two sisters-in-law, Delora Erkman of West Virginia and Dorothy and Louis Youngs of Lawrenceville. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Harry and John Erkman. He was born October 24, 1912 in White County, the son of Charles Elmer and Minnie Merle (Lutz) Roser. Carl married Vida Lucy Ragel December 24, 1932 and she preceded him in death November 5, 2001. Carl was a grain and livestock farmer and a member and former board member of the White County Farm Bureau. Carl was a member and deacon at Burnt Prairie Congregational Christian Church. Carl is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn Joyce and Tom Renfro of Quitman, Ga.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lowell and Sue Roser and Charles "Red" Roser, all of Carmi; eight grandchildren, Kent and Shannon Roser, Kyle and Nikki Roser, Scott Roser, Annette and Barry Carter, Ryan Roser, Mark Renfro, Carla and David Naylor and Natalie Chambliss; 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.     3. * OBITUARY: Dennis R. Paul * Nov. 7, 2012 8 a.m. * Carmi -- Dennis R. Paul, age 57 of Carmi, died Tuesday morning November 6, 2012 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born September 7, 1955 in Carmi, the son of Kenneth and Emma Lee (Cherry) Paul. He married Tina M. Stokes on April 2, 1976 in Carmi and she survives. Dennis retired after 22 years from Amax Coal Company in Kingsburg. He later worked at G.E. Sabic in Mt. Vernon, Ind. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. A member of the Enfield Masonic Lodge and attended Carmi New Beginning Church of God. Dennis liked to fish, but mostly he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, helping with their sports and just going to the playground and spending time with them outdoors. He is survived by his wife, Tina; one son and daughter-in-law, Jacob and Ashely Paul of Carmi; one daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Ryan Hoskins of Bowling Green, Ky.; two grandchildren, Alley Marvel Kristine Paul and Gabriel Keith Hoskins; his father, Kenneth of Carmi; two sisters and brother-in-law, Kimberly Hall of Evansville, Ind. and Crystal and Dana Wargel of Ridgway. He is preceded in death by his mother, Emma Lee, and one brother, Carl Paul.     3. * OBITUARY: Marvin Taylor Hill * Nov. 5, 2012 6:45 p.m. * Crossville -- Marvin Taylor Hill, 83, of Crossville, died Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville, Ind. He was born January 19, 1929, in Lerna, the son of Arthur and Florence Hill. He was married to Doris (Jenell) Hill for 63 years, and she survives. Marvin graduated from Lerna High School, Eastern Illinois University and Utterback's Business College. He was a Sergeant First Class in the US Army, and served in the Korean War and the Army Reserve. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Crossville where he served as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent and financial advisor. Marvin was a partner in Modern Gas Company for 37 years in Grayville and Fairfield. He had a deep sense of pride in his community where he served on the school board for 12 years, and was the mayor of Crossville for two terms, ran for the office of County Commission and was involved with Coleman Tri-County Services. He obtained a grant for Phillips Township for a new water treatment plant. His memberships include the Scottish Rite for 57 years, Masonic Lodge Sheba 200 for 59 years, Ainad Temple for more than 50 years, Shriners for 57 years, Gorin Commandery #14 Knight Templar, and Post 696 of the American Legion. Most of all, he was a loving, caring, and giving husband and father. His family was always his first concern. Survivors include his wife, Doris Hill of Crossville; daughters Diana (Ken) Lamont of Crossville; Donna (Larry) Maurer of Evansville, Ind., Barbara (Bob) Coatney of Atlanta, Ga.; grandchildren Shawn (Holly) Daniel and Nikole Lamont; great grandchildren Tanner Daniel and Max Moore. "Mimi" Hollister, 94, of Carmi passed away at 8 p.m. Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. She was born August 11, 1918 in Carmi, the daughter of David Morton and Grace Pearl (Funkhouser) Wheeler. Helen married her high school sweetheart, Frank McElyea, and later married Burch Hollister and he preceded her in death. Helen graduated from Carmi High School in 1936. She worked for several years for the City of Carmi and later worked at Walmart and the Carmi Motel. Helen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the Coffee Shop Club. Helen was clearly loved by all who knew her and especially by her grandchildren, Nikki and Brent Edwards of Carmi and Doug Metcalf of Mt. Carmel; a great-granddaughter, Alexis Metcalf of Mt. Carmel; a nephew, Bob Young of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; and her adopted granddaughter, Melody Veatch, special caregivers, Cora and Rick Yates, and the countless people who called her Mimi. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cinda Lu Farny and a sister, Doris Young. Graveside funeral services and burial for Helen E. She was born on December 16, 1928 in Oklahoma, the daughter of Vivian (Hardin) and Robert Buford. Annie grew up in Maunie, and graduated from Bristow Oklahoma High School in 1947. She attended Lockyear Business College before marrying Hazel Lee Sizemore and they resided in Evansville, Ind. They later divorced. Annie is survived by daughter, Sue "Suzy" Donahoo and her husband Steve of Spring Hill, Tenn., brothers Bobby Buford and his wife, Lois, of Texas, and Mickey Miller and his wife, Ruth Ann, of Thompsonville. Also are three grandchildren, Rachael Teitsort and her husband, Jack, of Centralia, Mike Donahoo and his wife, Adrienne, of Austin, Tx., and Mark Donahoo of Spring Hill, Tenn., three great-grandchildren, and one step great grandchild. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many long-time friends. Preceding her in death are her parents, brothers, Garold Buford, Harold Buford, Wayne Miller and infant sister, Mary, who died shortly after her birth. Following her request, she will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012 at Campbell Funeral Home. Internment will be at the Kuykendall Cemetery. Ella Mae is survived by her husband of 61 years, Fred Bradshaw of Carmi; a daughter and son-in-law, Melody and Jeff Hosick of Carmi; four sons and three daughter-in-laws, Charles and Kathy Bradshaw of Warner Robbins, Ga., Terry Bradshaw and Gary and Gayla Bradshaw, all of Mt. He was born October 26, 1941, in Carmi, the son of Howard B. and Sarah (Swindle) Churchwell. Howard married Janet Erwin on June 2, 1961 at the East Side Baptist Mission in Carmi and she survives. Howard was a police officer for a short time, then worked at Whirlpool as a maintenance supervisor before he retired. He had attended First Baptist Church, and then became a member of Crossroads Bible Church. Howard was truly loved by his wife and family and will be deeply missed. In addition to being a wonderful husband and father, Howard was an avid fisherman, gardener, and civil war and history enthusiast. He is survived by his wife, Janet; two sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Stacey Churchwell and Timothy M. and Christy Churchwell; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Joyce King and Shirley and Lee Raley, all of Henderson, Ky.; and Peggy and George Aborn of Grayville; his little buddy and nephew, Cameron Bruns; and many other relatives and friends.     3. * OBITUARY: Radford Murray Johnson, III * Oct. 29, 2012 7 p.m. * Crossville -- Radford Murray Johnson, III, 51, of Crossville, died Sunday, October 28, 2012, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born May 23, 1961, in Carmi, the son of Radford M. Johnson, Jr., and Sylvia Kellene (Sutton) Johnson. Radford had a passion for farming, and he owned and operated a gun shop and a trucking company. He was a member of the Crossville United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge, the Shrine, and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid gun enthusiast, and enjoyed riding ATV's, cooking, practical jokes, boating, winemaking and Great Dane dogs. Star Trek and weird science fiction movies were among his favorite pastimes. Whenever there was a project to be done, Radford was there to supervise it. He thoroughly embraced life and loved his friends and family. Survivors include his father, Radford M. Johnson, Jr.; sons Radford "Ford" (Patricia) Johnson and Max Ritter Johnson; daughter Morgan (Brandon) Pringle, all of Crossville; sisters Jeannie Kellene Johnson, Leisa (Robert) Loehrlein; grandchildren Tucker Chase Pringle and Lydia Kellene Johnson; nieces Whitney Krantz, Sydney Simon and Evan Loehrlein, all of Evansville, Ind. and significant other Amy Ashworth Girot.     3. * OBITUARY: William Frank Large * Oct. 30, 2012 2 p.m. * Morgantown, W.V. -- William Frank Large, 80, passed away after a short battle with cancer on Oct. 25, 2012, in Morgantown, W.V. He was born on March 18, 1932, in Carmi to William and Lucy (Nelson) Large. Bill retired from DuPont Washington Works as a mechanic. In recent years, he has enjoyed his retirement in Barefoot Bay, Fla. Bill grew up in Carmi where he graduated from Carmi High School in 1950. After high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force in 1950, and served as a crew chief for four years during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1954, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Bill worked at Delta Drilling Company as a driller and Baker Oil Tools as a sales and service representative before joining DuPont as a mechanic in 1966. He retired in 1991 after 25 years. Bill lived in Parkersburg, W.Va., before he retired to Barefoot Bay, Fla., in 1995. Bill married Naomi Estelle Weaver in 1957 in Grafton, W.V. They were happily married for 55 years. He enjoyed fishing, boating and traveling with his family. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lucy Large; and his sisters, Carol (Large) Williams and Barbara Jean Camfield. He is survived by his spouse, Naomi (Weaver) Large of Barefoot Bay, Fla.; his daughter, Shirley (Larry) Reber of Parkersburg, W.Va.; his daughter, Lori (Steve) Wilson of Pickerington, Ohio; his son, John (Michelle) Large of Morgantown, W.V.; his sister, Wilma Rumsey of Norris City; his brother, John (Faye) Large of Carmi; his grandson, Justin (Heather) Reber of Washington, W.V.; his granddaughter, Lori (Nathan) Pickens of Washington, W.V.; his granddaughter, Kathryn Wilson of Pickerington, Ohio; his grandson, Evan William Large of Morgantown, W.V.; his great-grandsons, Logan Reber and Sawyer and Cohen Pickens of Washington, W.V.; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

    3. * OBITUARY: Martha Ann Wallace * Oct. 29, 2012 noon * Evansville, Ind. -- Martha Ann Wallace, 73, of Evansville, Ind., passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012 at Woodbridge Nursing Home in Evansville, Ind. She was born July 17, 1939 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of Robert Glen and Dorothy Wallace, who preceded her in death. Martha moved with family to Carmi in 1947. She attended Jefferson and Washington schools and graduated from Carmi High School in 1957. She worked at Deaconess Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital for many years. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, James and Donna Wallace and two special friends, Jane Myers and Donna Stewart, her caregivers. Private services will be held at a later date.

    3. * OBITUARY: Harland J. Stucky * Oct. 29, 2012 noon * Carmi -- Harland J. Stucky, 90, of Carmi, died Monday, October 29, 2012 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. He was born August 6, 1922, in Prairie Du Sac, Wis., the son of Charles and Genevieve (Bartholomew) Stucky. He was married to Lois J. (Willis) Stucky and she preceded him in death on October 5, 2006. Harland was a construction worker, World War II Army Veteran, and member of several organizations including the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose Lodge and 40 and 8. Anywhere he went, he enjoyed visiting with people. Survivors include two sons, Doug (Brenda) Stucky, Kevin Stucky, all of Carmi; sisters Karen Pahl of Davis, Marguerite Keith of Freeport; grandchildren Kim (Pat) Owen, Michelle (Robert) Niehaus, Belinda (Kenny) Kostenbader, Christine Stucky, Kelly (Shawn Jones) Stucky, Kevin M. (Catherine Saelens-Alvarado) Stucky; and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; sisters Doris "Dotty" Taber and Pat Richardt. At Harland's direction, his remains were cremated and a memorial service will be at a later date. Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi is in charge of arrangements. She was born May 18, 1921, in Burnt Prairie Township, the daughter of Paul and Gertrude (Jordan) Gwaltney. Versa was a Laboratory Technician who worked in St. Louis and at Smith Klein, as well as many area hospitals, including White County Hospital. She was a member of Ashland Christian Church. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Lois Gwaltney of Carmi; and many nieces and nephews She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Everett and Charles Gwaltney; and two sisters, Edith and Ethel Gwaltney. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2012 at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until the time of service.
