Anna, you can. I live in Virginia. Somehow I had found that there were three locations that had what I thought I wanted. One was in Pennsylvania, one in Texas, and one in Indiana. I had just assumed that it would come from the closest location, but Indiana was the winner. You just go to your local library information or help desk, and tell them you would like to borrow whatever. I was asked how much I would be willing to pay if there was a fee -- I said "nothing." And there was no fee. I've learned that the Inter Lending Library (ILL) is just the ticket for almost any book that the local libraries do not carry. This was the first time I had used the service, and I must say I was impressed.
Can you give more info as to what Carl Shelton you are referring to. It has to be a different one than that one living in Carmi, White co. Ill. now. -- Vi Poland email address vipoland@cox.net Home Page is http://members.cox.net/w8fwf

Would this BRUCE have any connection to the Wilkersons. I have a Henry Wilkerson born Albemarie, Va m. Mary "Polly" Bruce, Father Michael D. Bruce circa 1742. Mary Bruce and Henry Wilkerson had daughter Rachel Wilkerson who was born in Tenn. But ultimately ended up in Jefferson Co. IL (Mt. Vernon area) Janean
I must have missed the original discussion about a book, but maybe this will help. Recently I went to my library and asked them to request the "History of White County" through the Inter Lending Library program. About six weeks later, it arrived on microfilm. However, it was not what I had requested. It turned out to be much better: it was "Illinois County Histories: Washington, Wayne, and White Counties" #332 thru 337, Reel 89. Gallatin County was included at the end of White County. This was one reel from the book: County & Regional Histories of the Old Northwest, Series 4, Illinois. The film was for my use in the library for 30 days. It included photographs of local dignitaries, homes, maps of the area, plats with resident names listed on each one, biographies, names of those in various wars, and so much more. The film was from the university in Terre Haute, Indiana. This was especially valuable to me as my ancestors came from Wayne, White, and Gallatin counties. What a wonderful surprise and aid to my research! Good luck.

I believe that his first wife was a Spencer. Was her father the Joseph Spencer that was born ca 1869, son of Joseph Spencer and Nancy Stanley. and a husband to Frances Hanks? Who were her siblings? I believe that she had ata least one daughter...I want to say her name was Kuykendall...possily Irma or Erma Kuykendall. It seems that her husband predeased her when her children were small. She had at least one daughter that attended the Cossville school system...eventually moved West. Also, I believe Eram Britton was a sister to Ethel Britton Smith (Mrs Hiram Smith) that liived the first house south west of the tracks from Warren Cabins...later known as Bula 's. Did Ethel or Irma have other children? What happened to their mother? I believe she divorced Elgin. Was her name Maude or Maudie? What are the names of the descendants? Do I have the right relationship here. Was Elgin's first wife, a daughter to Joseph Spencer and Frances Hanks or might she have been a dauughter to Aunt Mary Spencer Hanks and her busband, Daniel B. Hanks. I any informatioon is appreciated in the hopes of completing a family tree.

Of particular interest are those marriages that occurred in the late 1800's. Especially, those children that would be direct descendants of Mary and Dan.I would especially like to know which children were from the Mary Spencer / Daniel Benjamin Hanks union. Marriages in WCI list: Albert N. Hanks that married Hattie Henshaw (this might be a misspelling for Kershaw) in 1897 Gerge W. Hanks married a Mrs. Shore Simpsoon, or Simpson Shore in 1898 Walter Hanks married a Rosa Sullivan in 1899 William Hanks married Abbie Gail (Abigail) Malone in 1898 Minnie F. Janks marries A. A. Hanks Maried James M. Sexton in 1893 Ethel Hanks married William Franklin Hays. In Edwards County: Jasper G. Hanks Married a Lucy Henshaw (Kershaw is correct spelling) in 1888 James Hanks married a Susnah (Susanah),Odlesby (Oglesby) in 1897 Sarah Hanks marries Charles Francisc Bleakley in 1889 Any help whatsoever will be appreciated in discoving the parentage, the siblings and the descendants of these. I am attempting a Spencer - Kershaw famiy tree....and hoope that I might gather enough information to add the families of Mary Spencer and Daniel B. Hanks. Also, mary had at least two brothers tht married into the Hankses; Edwards and Joseph

Barb, Only see a couple of Cutchin's, Neal (1878-1954) and Nellie M (1881-1936) at Big Prairie. No Troester, and that name doesn't ring a bell. Cindy barbawhittaker wrote: > > Hi, the names are CUTCHIN and TROESTER. Thanks. Barb >
Barb, Yes, the 1970s books have Big Prairie. I think the historical society has a new listing from 2000 or so but all of the Hawthorne twp. cemeteries are not done so they have not been compiled into a book. Who are you looking for?
