    1. [ILWHITE] MARY ANN HUTCHCRAFT---- A Midwife??
    2. Evalyn Turner
    3. Hello List. Family story says that Mary Ann (RHODES) HUTCHCRAFT--b.ca 1825--wife of Harrison Sr. HUTCHCRAFT- was a midwife and delivered many, many babies in Hamilton, Franklin and White Counties. I would really like to see some evidence of this. When you are looking at birth records of your ancestors born in these counties in the years 1850 - 1860- 1870- 1880 , would you please check to see who was in attendance at the birth? Mary Ann HUTCHCRAFT was my g g grandmother and I would really appreciate seeing proof that she was a midwife. I don't know her death date, but think she passed away sometime after 1900. Would really appreciate your help. Take care, Evalyn

    1. [ILWHITE] Wilson Parker marries Sarah Nessler, January 7, 1841

Surnames: Parker Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Yh.2ADE/280.889.1481.1 Message Board Post: Nancy, I hope this information will be of some value to you. A Wilson Parker married a Sarah Nessler in Whie County, on January 7, 1841. There were at least five John Parker marriages in the county between 1849 and 1866. There were two John A.'s, one John E. and two others simply listed as John Parkers. There was no John L. Parker. One of the John's married Hulda Underwood on November 11, 1852 and the other John Parker married Elizabeth Hendrix on April 24, 1854. However, the marriage of a John Parker closest in date to that of Wilson was John A. (perhaps, the middle initiall was transposed incorrectly...that is not an uncommon mistake). His marriage was to Amanda S. Robenson (probably Robinson) on July 5, 1849. I found three listings for Parkers for White County in the Sales of Illinois Land in the Public Land Domain or Trust One was to Isaac Person Parker and another to Jacob Tucker Parker in 1836. J. T. Parker, who I assume to be Jacob Tucker or his junior purchased land in 1853. The are other Wilson Parkers with later marriage dates in other Illinois counties. And I suspect one of them is the Wilson you are searching for, as the dates of marriage would be more dompatibile with the birthdate you gave foro Wilson. It is possible that he may have moved from White County and had a second marriage. The other marriages occur in Pike, Madison and Piatt Counties of Illinois. Also, there was one John L. Parker marriage in Illiinois; hooweveer, it was in Coles Couny and took place in 1837. Good luck!

    3. Roberta, Are you asking about the Jewell Carter Pearce, who was born in 1856 to Prussian Pearce and Martha Logan? Carl Shelton's database says he died in Hamilton County, but no date or burial location. There are a couple of Jewell Pearce's who died as infants, another who born 1903 and mostly lived in Hamilton Co. Maybe the two were confused, too. I'll see if there is a listing for him at Village/Old Prairie. Cindy roberta zink wrote: > > Thank you to all the folks that responded to my Roland query. Cannot tell you how much it is appreciated. All we knew was that our Jewell Pearce was raised in and lived all of his life in Herald's Prairie Township. Now we know exactly the town/village he was in and where it is. We now have a better picture where to look for where he is buried. We're going to start with Old Village Cemetery and hope that is where he is. Again, thank you. Roberta

William S. Newman's ( my great-grandfather')death certificate states his father was born in Logan County, KY. This disagrees with your information that he was born in VA. Do you have proof? Of course, it is possible he was born in VA and only lived in KY. Also, do you have proof that Thomas Wicker and his wife are buried at Bruce Chapel Cemetery? I believe Susan is a daughter of this couple also since Thomas Newman was administrator for Thomas Wicker's will and I do have the marriage license of Susan and Thomas Newman. I am working on checking the will to see who inherited. Perhaps you have already done this. Lois Sutton

    3. Cindy: Yes, it was Jewell Carter Pearce. He died January 11, 1917. We got the death certificate from the archives online. He died in Hamilton County and the cert said burial "cem near Roland." We think it could be Old Village Cemetery. Don't know what other cemeteries might be around there. The 1903 you reference is probably my grandfather, Jewell Wheeler Pearce as he was raised in Hamilton County and stayed there all his life. His grandfather, Jewell Carter Pearce and back were all in White County. Jewell Carter died at his son's home in Broughton. Any help will greatly be appreciated. We have been to Lick Creek/Old Prairie Cemetery but could not find him there. But we did find his parents and siblings there. If you know anything about Old Village or any other cemetery around there, we would greatly appreciate the info. Thank You for responding. 2. Pat Davis
    3. Okay folks, here's the scoop on my newest book: NEW! September, 2002 List of BOOKS and OTHER RESOURCES at the Mary Smith Fay Genealogy Library, White County, Illinois This book lists the contents of the Mary Smith Fay Genealogy Library at 203 North Church Street, Carmi, Illinois. It contains a double listing, tailored to Genealogists: The first list is by Location Country, State, and County. The second list is by category, and includes Birth, Buildings, Cemetery, Census, Church, Court, Death, Family, History, How-To, Land, Map, Marriage, Military, Microfilm/fiche, School, and Tax. Included in each list is the Title, category, number of pages (if the material is numbered), the shelf location in the Library, and additional notes or related family names (if the material is indexed). Many title span multiple states, counties, or categories; these are repeated in each location, within reason. The largest section is the "Family" section, which includes not only family books, but many files, with information on family names gleaned from various sources through the years; these may contain from one to one-hundred pieces of paper, and are constantly changing. Since the family books and files are not location-oriented, they are listed only in the Category Section. If you're looking for a particular book, whether for a particular State and County or a particular family name, this particular List might be just the particular place to find it! Published September 2002, 214 pages, soft-cover, postpaid. . . . . $ 26.00 Order from: Patricia S. Davis, 705 Burrell Street, Carmi, IL 62821-2319

    3. Geri, There are several books available for both Wayne and White Counties. Do you have an approximate burial location for your guy, such as Oak Grove in Grayville? The indexes are spotty. Death certs were not mandated until the 1930s so you might not be able to find one for Thomas unless he died in town. 3. I was most interested in your message about John COOK and Sallie BAGBY. This family crosses with mine through the DeBOARD and McKENZIE lines. I haven't done much specific research on John COOK and Sallie BAGBY. In fact, what I had on them was this: John COOK, b ca 1825 + Sally C. BAYLEY on 1 Nov 1845 This info came from the online marriage records for Illinois, and I am thrilled to discover that Sally was actually a BAGBY - which makes complete sense. I had no parents listed for her, although I had William Anderson BAGBY in my database. William Anderson BAGBY had a son, William H. BAGBY who married Mary Frances McKENZIE on 10 June 1860. Mary Frances McKENZIE was the daughter of Alexander McKENZIE and Margaret VINEYARD. Her sister, Margaret Ann MCKENZIE, married Joel Franklin DeBOARD. They were my gr gr grandparents. I also have a Sally BLOODWORTH (b ca 1819 AL) who married John F. DeBOARD on 13 Oct 1836 White Co IL. I have no doubt that she must have been somehow related to your Catherine 'Caty' BLOODWORTH. I have a great deal of info on Hannah DeBOARD. Her parents were William DeBOARD and Lydia FORRESTER. The family is found in the 1810 Wilkes Co NC census. They left NC around 1816, and found in White Co IL for the 1820 census. It is possible that they moved directly to White Co IL, but I have found a William DeBARD in Sumner Co TN in 1816 tax lists. Many years later, another DeBOARD family moved from NC to White Co IL, and they spent two years in Sumner Co TN, so I believe it is possible that William DeBOARD's family made a stop there as well. I know that none of this directly addresses your John COOK and Sallie BAGBY family, but thought you might be interested. 3. Does anyone have information about the town of Roland in White County. Received death certificate for g-g-grandfather, Jewell Pearce and lists his burial in cemetery near Roland. We know Roland does not exist any longer, but where exactly was it and does anyone know any names of cemeteries in that area. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
