My ggg grandmother was Anna Land (d/o Joseph Land of Pendelton Co., SC). Anna was single when she had my gg grandfather (Abraham SR Land) in 1781. She married a Jonathan Reeves/Reaves abt 1782 and had two known children-- George and Nancy. Nancy married a Judge Pleasant Mulliniks and George married a Mary Land and had one known child, Charity Reeves who married a Skelton. These folks all may have had more than one child-- as very few ever stopped with just one child. Does this help anyone? Helen Zuber Keusch forever searching in the LAND, EDWARDS, WOFFORD, REEVES, MULLINIKS, CRABTREE, GOODWIN, CHAPMAN, BENNETT, ZUBER, ANTHIS, GOODART-GUTEKUNST, BANGERT, EAKINS, FORD-FOARD, SANDEFUR, MELTON, HANDLEY, EZELL, THOMASSON, and DUNCAN families. Interested in your Reeves info. I have a Jeremiah who was in IL and married Edna Cross. She was b. abt 1800, and her father was Zachariah Cross. I have family that connects there. So have been watching what responses have come through. Would this be the brother of your Jehiel? Place and time sounds right. Marian Land Ferguson
Was your Zachariah Cross the one from NC (and later KY) who served as a scout for his cousin Gen. Marion Fox in the Revolution? His dau Rachel md. a Funkhouser of Gallatin Co., IL, b. 1819. War events or activity. Two men of this name are listed in the 1790 census - one in Out Ward (?), NY Co., NY; and one in Southampton Co., Suffolk Twp. No indication of wives' or children's names in any of these, except a Purrier and a Purrier, Jr. accompanying him in the list of refugees from Long Is. to CT in 1776. Interestingly, there is also a biog'l sketch of a Jehiel Reeve of Suffolk Co., NY, b. 1830, son of Hezekiah Reeve, but no other clue as to his ancestry, descendants, etc.
Someone published a genealogy of the Jeremiah Reeves family a few years back. I recall that the compiler donated a copy to the Albion Public Library. I suppose other area libraries also received copies of the publication. That publication might help you in your research. I have 2 Berry's in my database, don't know if they are related or not but they married into complete opposite sides of my family. One side, my dad's father's side and the other my dad's mother's side. But here are the names in case you can connect them to your Berry. Ora G. (Dutch) Berry m. Minnie Carpenter - most likely Jefferson Co. (Mt. Vernon area) IL. Born circa 1882 Philander Berry married Jane Elizabeth Wilson of Middleburg Va. she died in Union Co. Ky. Born 1809. No info on him. However, other siblings moved to Carmi, IL. So she could have married him there and they went to KY as did some other siblings. Not a match, but sometimes snip-its help. Janean

Hi all - If you have a query for the initial issue of the White County Illinois Roots & Branches (the Genealogy Society of White County Illinois newsletter), the deadline is January 13, 2003. Please be sure to include both your snail-mail & email addresses, so even non-netters can reply to you. You don't have to be amember to place a (free) query in the Newsletter. Queries can be sent to: genealogy_society@midwest.net or to my own email below--both end up in the same place! Or to Genealogy Society of White County IL, P.O. Box 142, Carmi, IL 62821-0142. Our first meeting of 2003 will be Jan. 14, though we don't yet know where it will be held, and will probably be spent mostly on working out the Newsletter logistics (as will most of our meetings!). Meanwhile, keep those memberships and charts rolling in ... from the response so far, we may be printing a book of those charts sooner than expected! We really appreciate all the very positive support we're receiving, from both the web and non-web folks. Happy New Year to all... Pat Davis patdavis@midwest.net
