    2. Today in the mail, I received the first copy of the White Co., IL. ROOTS and BRANCHES!!! It is great! It is big, 16 pages. I love it. The cost is only $15.00 a year if you send in an Ancestor Chart(s) or Descendant report(s). $20.00 if you do not. Their address is: Genealogy Society of White County Illinois, P. O. 3. Jane, Yes, Marshall Ferry seems to be the name of the cemetery, while Rising Sun is the name of the small community below the cemetery on the banks of the Wabash. Dogtown is the nickname for the same community, which is in Emma Township. Union Ridge is a large cemetery which I think is in Heralds Prairie township. 2. Sorry, I'm getting confused. I think I had sent a message requesting Rising Sun, Dogtown, Marshall's Ferry, and Union Ridge. Now I'm told that all but Union Ridge are actually the same. Is this the information you need? Jane (No more messages, I promise!)

    3. Hi all; Hope everyone has been avoiding the flu bug that has been going around. Just alittle update on the cemetery books w/pictures...I received a digital camera for christmas this past year so I am just chomping at the bit to get warmer weather so that I can resume taking pictures for these books. I do have a request from anyone wanting a cemetery in the books. I had kept all of your previous e-mails but last year my computer had a power surge go thru it and all of my information including 2 years of work on my family was gone. Had to get a new modem and start all over again. So please when you all have some time e-mail me personally and refresh my memory on what cemeteries are of importance to all of you. I am hoping that I will have my first book done by this summer. Keep your fingers crossed.... Sincerely, Michelle Young

    2. I am behind in reading my mail. I am reading that Lick Creek baptist Church had been torn down! A shame. I just went there this summer and took pictures of that lovely old building. unfortunately, the film for the head stones didn't comeout( bad camera!). Luckily we used two cameras. I am decended from Samuel Chapman and Christenia Chaney, through andrew Jackson Chapman and Jane( Janett, Janice???) McGhee, who is listed on the church records. I's love to find out who samuel's father is?( Daniel Chapman?) and the family of christenia Chaney and who are the parents of Jane Mcghee( who I think is sister to Rut( rutha) Mcghee who married Nicholas Huff... 2. They are having quite a money crunch in Alexander Co., so I'm sure the answer is that they do not have the funds to pay employees to perform both operations at the same time. Shirley

    3. if any of you are planning a trip to Alexander co. Cairo courthouse. be advised that this county closes the courthouse to all genealogy research between Jan 15 and apr 15 because they have to prepare for the elections. don`t know what the connection of these two entirely different subjects are, but apparently the politicians have found one.

    3. Jonelle, Thanks for your information. Sarah Jane (Barbre) and Alexander Hutchcraft were my great grandparents from my father's family. Mary Ann Savannah (Hutchcraft) Russell was a sister to Alexander Hutchcraft. A different set of parents are listed for Sarah Jane in "The Hutchcrafts in America" book by Edna Hutchcraft Welling as well as a different day and year of birth. I was wondering if an age was given for Sarah Jane Barbre in the 1860 census Alexander F. Barbre listing. Elizabeth Stanley Barbre lived with her daughter Sarah Jane Barbre and son-in-law Alexander Hutchcraft.. I would suggest checking for his records from the Civil War. The person who submitted the file listed Alexander's father as John Barbre and Sara Dosier. The source of thi information was Kathleen Green, of Portland OR. my note is dated 19 Aug 2001. The Barbre's are connected to my husband's gggrnadmother Lucretia Funkhouser Russell. Good Luck with your search.
