I just rec'd an old typed transcription of the 1880, 1900, and 1910 Census of White County, IL containing a DUNGY/DUNGIE household-I am seeking descendents of these folks as I am sure they tie into my Dungys of other IL counties-there is a Harrison marriage in this line. Helen, It's in Waldo Twp., Livingston County, Illinois; apparently the same John A. Tennis that "Genie" sent information about from the 1870 census. I had never seen these old plat maps before, but I went to the Illinois State Archives website and they have digitized maps from 1804-1891 through an LSTA grant and they are really neat! To get there: http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/home.html Then follow these links: Illinois State Archives Federal Township Plat Maps of Illinois (7th item down) View the Plats (near the top) Central Illinois Livingston County Waldo Twp. You can then see Section 34. Helen, I don't know if this might be a connection or not, but one of my Duggers (Rhoda Ann) married an Alexander Teness in Macoupin Co. Nov 3, 1836. I have no further information on Alexander other than there are several spellings of the last name, but perhaps knowing there was a Tennes family in Macoupin Co might help you figure out where to search. I do have information about Rhoda Ann Dugger, though not much, and have no children listed for them. Carol Dugger

Hi I am looking for descendants of Margaret Fecher (wf of John A. Tennis). Margaret's parents were Catherine Hochgesang and Paul Fecher of Dubois Co. Margaret was b. in KY, where her parents were married. So far I have 4 sons for Margaret-- Paul, Joseph, John William, and Michael. In 1874, she was living in McCleansboro, IL. Don't think this is much help, but from the 1870 census: TENNIS, JOHN A 34 M W PA IL LIVINGSTON WALDO TWP Margaret, 26, b KY Grass, Joseph, 11, b IN Tennis, Wm., 5 mos., b IL, in Jan. Goldsmith, Nick, 34, b France John W., 3, b IL John was a farmer. The last child appears to be a Goldsmith, but could be a Tennis not listed in proper (or usual) order??? In 1880, the family is in Lincoln, Lawrence Co., MO (See familysearch.org) as J. A. Tennis. etc. Only child listed is son J. W., 10, b IL (plus nephew Cornelas Tennis, 27). CT. readers...Il readers have come up with this summation...I know CT has a "right to know law." Can anyone sum it up? ladybug@arends-sons.com in Ford County, Il. IL readers: To my dismay, after reading SO MUCH LEGAL junk, Dan has probably solved the problem. I will quote what he seems to have quoted..... To do otherwise is a violation of Illinois Law. Vital Records are not considered Public information, nor are the subject to the Freedom of Information Act." Guess we are out-of-luck.

Hi all: Just about anyone who has studied White County or Southern Illinois knows our area has always been an economic backwater, and has gone through some really tough times as the oil industry and small towns decline. About two years ago the State of Illinois agreed to build a new prison near Grayville, which would have brought many good, permanent jobs to the area. In April work on the facility stopped, a victim of the state budget deficit. It appears the project is on its last legs, but a petition drive has been started to try to bring some development to White County. If you are an Illinois voter, please sign the petition at http://www.PetitionOnline.com/gville03/petition.html . Please forward it to other Illinois residents you know.
