    3. Laurel, What the database from Carl Shelton shows is that Isaac Jones Bruce was a descendent of Robert Bruce, born about 1764. His father was John Bruce b. 1742 and Mary Smith. Benjamin F. who married Tabitha Stephens is supposed to be a descendent of the brother of Robert, named Benjamin Bruce Sr., b. 1768. Of course, this database is unsourced so there is no way to confirm all the information. You should check the Gallatin Co. site for the Bruce family members listed there. West Union and Union cemetery are different, as is West Union, but all are located in White County. Hazel Ridge, which also has some Bruces, is actually just over the Gallatin Co. line. 3. That depends on which Bruce line. There are two lines in the area, supposedly not connected, but I'm determined to find a connection down the line somewhere. :-) Anyhow, there are lots of other Bruces buried throughout White Co., in Ebenezer, Mt. Oval, Hazel Ridge, and possibly other cemeteries. I'm not familiar with the Bruces buried in Ridgway. Do you have a listing of who those are? I just know that there used to be an older gentleman who came to our family reunion who was a Bruce, but not connected to our line. He just liked to come and enjoyed the company. I'm not sure if he's still living because I've not seen him in years. The Bruces were in Sumner Co., Tenn., before moving to Southeast Ill. One set moved up there around 1815-1817, and I think another set moved up there years later. I'm not sure of all the details, just that I'm descended from the first set. That set was Robert Bruce and his son Isaac Jones Bruce, father of Benjamin Jasper Bruce, my 3g-grandfather. 3. Is West Union Cemetery the same was Union Cemetery? I have a partial copy of "Cemeteries of White County, Illinois" Volume 1, and it lists Union Cemetery, but not West Union. There are no Bruces listed there. I've been to West Union and don't recall seeing any Bruces there either. Benjamin F. and Tabitha Bruce are also not listed to be buried in Ebenezer or Mt. Oval Cemeteries. I've also looked around in Hazel Ridge cemetery and unless they are in an unmarked grave, or have a stone so deteriorated as to not be easily read, they are not there either. Carol, I know we've corresponded before. Can you remind me of your Bruce line? My line is from Benjamin Jasper Bruce, son of Isaac Jones Bruce. If I come across anything, I'll be sure to let you know. Good luck!! 3. Cindy and Janean, thanks for your input on the Bruce graves. I will check the Gallatin Co Cemetery lists and see what I come up with, though I don't think I found these particular Bruces listed on it last time I was looking at it. Sorting out those Bruce families is an absolute nightmare and now I see why I have put off doing much Bruce research until now! Carol

    1. [ILWHITE] FASSNACHT, STUBER, and DEAL Family Photographs
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph album which appears to have belonged to the FASSNACHT Family and includes photographs identified as FASSNACHT, STUBER, and DEAL Family members. Most of the photographs are from South Bend, Indiana, however, others are from Carmi, Illinois; Falls City, Nebraska; and Michawaka, Indiana. Most of the photographs were taken in the 1870's to early 1900's and are all studio photographs. The album contains a total of 23 photographs including the following identified as: 1. Memorial Card for Mary E. FASSNACHT d. 11 March 1896 at age 13 yrs, 6 mon, 12 days 2. Two copies of a photograph of Louise STUBER FASSNACHT and her "unidentified" spouse, taken at the McDonald Studio in South Bend, Indiana, notes that Louise is about 40 years of age at the time and that the photograph was taken before Amelia was born, probably taken in the 1880's or 1890's 3. Photograph of Martha FASSNACHT, no studio location, probably taken in the 1890's, name "Mrs. Willis DEAL" also appears on the back of the photograph as if it might have been gifted to her, Martha seems to appear in other unidentified photographs throughout the album, including one which appears to be a photograph of three siblings (two female and one male) I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
