He was born July 25, 1948 in Eldorado, the son of Ted B. and Mary E. (Whiting) Pettijohn. He was a lineman at Whirlpool in Evansville, Ind. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Kristi M. and Jon Snapp of Millville, N.J.; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin M. and Lisa Pettijohn of Norris City; and a granddaughter, Hannah Nicole Pettijohn. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, the Rev. C. Ernest Essary officiating. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery. She was born Sept. 12, 1918, the daughter of Edgar C. and Sylvia (McGehee) Healy. Dorothy enjoyed cooking, reading, quilting, knitting, going to yard sales and fishing. She is survived by a nephew, Ron (Shirley) Mullikin of Bonne Terre, Mo.; a brother, Bob (Mabel) Healy of Enfield; nieces, Joan (Don Gibson) of Enfield, Dorothy Wheeler of Norris City and Ginger (Gerald) Sorensen of Elgin; and nephews, Scott (Erika) Healy of Enfield, John (Angie) Healy of Norris City, James Jr. (Janice) Healy and Tommy (Marianne) Healy of Greenfield, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Mullikin; two brothers, Ezra and James Healy; and a sister, Alma Cusic. Dorothy was cremated.

He was born March 22, 1930 in Norris City, the son of Wilfred and Josephine (Keasler) Boyd. Ben worked in the oilfield, where he had various jobs with several local oil companies. He retired after working as an executive with ARAMCO Oil in Saudi Arabia. He is survived by three daughters, Barbara Boyd of Norris City, Patty Wright of Fayetteville, N.C. and Sara Batteiger (and her husband, Carl) of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; a brother, the Rev. Robert Gene Boyd of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Betty Boyd of Sikeston, Mo., and Janet Boyd of York, Pa.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Mildred Knight, and three brothers, Wilfred Boyd Jr., Jack Boyd and Dr. William K. Boyd. She was born March 25, 1940, in Carmi, the daughter of Martin and Elizabeth (Raglin) Russell. She was married to Arnold Young, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 2005. Norma was a homemaker and farm wife. She attended Liberty Baptist Church in Burnt Prairie and Christ Community Church in Vincennes. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Home Extension and the VFW Women's Auxiliary. Some of her favorite pastimes were cooking, crafts, gardening, quilting, music and searching for bargains. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Jannette Young of Grayville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sherry Talbot of Louisville, Ky., and Renee and Ron Fellows of Vincennes, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Kassie Lowe, Cody Fellows, Sara Young, Kayla Young, Ashley Young, Melody Young, Adrien Talbot and Erica Talbot. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Funeral is at 10 a.m. Thursday at Cook Funeral Chapel, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville.

    3. Carmi Times Thu Oct 01, 2009 Carmi, Ill. - Eleanor Funkhouser, 87, Carmi, died at 12:19 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind. She was born May 20, 1922, in White County to Alpha and Mildred (Anselment) Orman and married K. Wayne Funkhouser April 20, 1946, who survives. Eleanor was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi and worked at First National Bank in Crossville and as a bookkeeper for Finch Ford and York Fiscus Chrysler Plymouth, retiring in 1977 after 13 years of service. Among her survivors are: two daughters, Jeanna Funkhouser, Hermitage, Tenn., and Nancy (Darrell) Abby, Bedford, Texas; three half-brothers, James Meriwether, Fairfield, Homer Meriwether, Evansville, Ind., and Harold Meriwether, Carmi; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one foster great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by: two half-brothers, Elmer Meriwether and Paul Orman; and two half-sisters, Sophia Joy Pringle and Janet Sue Meriwether. Visitation is from 5:30 until 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, and again from noon until the time of services Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009. Services are set for 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Campbell Funeral Home with the Rev. C. Ernest Essary officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Phoenix Foundation of Southern Illinois or the Guardian Center and will be accepted at the funeral home.

He was born May 10, 1929, in White County to Clarence and Amelia (Ude) Bohleber and married Phyllis Schumaker in 1950, who survives. Clarence was a retired teacher, beginning his career at South Spencer as an agriculture instructor and principal. He later taught building trades at the vocational center in Centerville. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi. Among his survivors are: a daughter, Martha Matza, Stafford, Texas; a son, Ed (Alice) Bohleber, Carmi; a sister, Berniece Bingman, Carmi; a sister-in-law, Margret Bohleber, Carmi; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter. She was born Oct. 19, 1932 in Cottonwood, the daughter of Earl Ezekial and Eva Mae (Healy) Jones. She married Carroll J. Healy June 6, 1950, and he preceded her in death Oct. 21, 1988. She was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Norris City. She was a seamstress at Brooks Manufacturing. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Jerry Garrett, and Patti and Rick Tarrant, all of Omaha; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Paula Healy of Norris City, David and Lola Healy of Norris City, and Keith and Dianna Healy of Enfield; four sisters, Wanda Greer of Marion, Opal Hackerson of Evansville, Ind., Marveunene Boster of Holbrook, Pa., and Thedola Lacefield of St. Louis, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Nevella Jones of Ridgway and Joyce Jones of McLeansboro; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was born Dec. 21, 1942 in Maunie, the daughter of the Rev. Martin and Mildred Arlene (Tower) Holtzclaw. She married Henry Davis Aug. 12, 1960, in New Haven, and he preceded her in death Oct. 3, 2000. Verla was a certified nursing aide. She was a past president and lifetime member of the Carmi VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a lifetime member of the American Legion of Carmi. She attended First Apostolic Church of New Haven. Verla is remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by a son, Frank Davis of Enfield, and his girlfriend, Toni Lydick; a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Rick Campbell of Carmi; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Max and Rosemary Holtzclaw of Mooresville, Ind., the Rev.
