    2. Long Prairie Methodist Episcopal Society in Four Mile Twp. was established 1841 or 1842, members included James Boswell who was class leader. From Tennessee came James Boswell and his children as follows: William, Joseph, James, John, Washington, Timothy, Sally, Phoebe, and Cynthia. Upon certain occasions the old man would style himself "Jimmie Pepper" and many will remember him beter by that name. Joseph Boswell is now living in Mt Vernon Illinois. William, Timothy and Sally in this twp. (4 Mile), the latter being the widow of Richard Jenkins who came here among the first and whose chief characteristic was that of whistling of which he never tired. (Remember this was written in 1884) William Boswell had a stump mill J. R. Boswell was Town Clerk 1870-71 Joseph Boswell was assessor 1869 and S. Boswell assessor in 1879. Under Maulding name: Capt.
