Long Prairie Methodist Episcopal Society in Four Mile Twp. was established 1841 or 1842, members included James Boswell who was class leader. From Tennessee came James Boswell and his children as follows: William, Joseph, James, John, Washington, Timothy, Sally, Phoebe, and Cynthia. Upon certain occasions the old man would style himself "Jimmie Pepper" and many will remember him beter by that name. Joseph Boswell is now living in Mt Vernon Illinois.
