    3. Bettie I'll scan in the pages Clark Flint sent me and send them to you and maybe you can tell me if it's what you helped him with. I was so thrilled to get the info. Clark and I are fourth cousins. Below is the oldest generation he provided a famliy group sheet for. He did provide farther back generations in a single page listing going back to Thomas Flint b 1603 d 15 Apr 1663. I'm using Omnipage to run OCR on the pages he sent me so it takes a little while to do each sheet and of course it looks some of the formatting when I convert it to text so I can share with the list. Family Group Sheet for Amos Flint Sr. Husband: Amos Flint Sr. Born: 17-Apr-1718 in: Salem Village, Essex Co., MA Baptized: 18-Oct-1718 in: North Parish, Danvers, Essex Co., MA Died: bef 4-Nov-1797 in: Amherst, Hillsborough Co., NH Married: 18 Nov 1741 in: No. Reading, Middlesex Co, MA First Spouse: Mary Graves born: circa 1721 in: Lynn, Essex Co, MA ? died circa 1763-65 in: Reading, Middlesex Co, MA First Spouse's Parents: Samuel Graves and Elizabeth Collins Second Spouse: widow Elizabeth Treavitt Married: 30 Jan 1765 in: Reading, Middlesex Co, MA Other: in:1765 in: Reading; selectman Occupation: Yeoman/Farmer/Selectman Father: Ebenezer Flint Mother: Gartrude (Gertrude) Pope Though born in Salem Village, Amos Flint moved with his father's family to North Reading, MA, shortly after 1720. There he married Mary Graves, the presumed daughter of Samuel Graves, and there Amos and Mary Flint had seven children between the years of 1743 and 1763. Sgt. Amos Flint was included in a roster of North Reading men, dated 27-Jun-1754, described as a "list of the soldiers inducted into his Majesty's service for the defense of the Eastern frontiers to this province, commanded by Col. John Winslow and company under Capt. William Flint now on Banggs Island at Falmouth," now held by the Massachusetts Historical Society. Captain William Flint was Amos Flint's first cousin, the son of his father's brother, Deacon William Flint. Samuel Graves' name also appears on the list. Falmouth later became Portland, ME. Sometime after the death of his first wife, and after his marriage to widow Elizabeth Treavitt in 1765, Amos Flint moved his family to Amherst, NH. There, prior to 1771, Amos Flint was active in both church and civic affairs. On 24- Oct-1775, Amos Flint was named to a town committee to "treat with [the aging and disabled] Rev. Mr. Wilkins relative to his future salary" (see Secomb's "History of Amherst," page 104). On 24-Feb-1778, Amos Flint was part of the town committee which offered the pulpit at Amherst's First Church to Mr. John Blydenburg. And in the Spring of 1780, Amos Flint represented both the town and the church on two different committees for the ordination and placement of Rev. Jeremiah Barnard within the Amherst church. [Note: It was Rev. Jeremiah Barnard's sister, Mary or "Polly" Barnard, that married Amos Flint, Jr. in 1785.] Amos Flint, Sr. was also called three years later (1783), to serve on a three- man committee to settle with Rev. Barnard on his salary. Both Amos Flint and his son, Amos Flint, Jr., signed the Association Test of 1776, and town records indicate that Amos Flint, Jr. went on to serve during the war for independence. In 1780, Amos Flint, Sr. served on the Amherst Committee of Safety with Hezekiah Lovejoy and Robert Means. And on 8-Feb-1781, Amos Flint was named to a town committee to raise yet another 74 men for three years service to the war effort. In addition, Amos Flint Sr. served the town of Amherst as one of many surveyors of highways in 1771, 1778, 1782, 1783 and 1784. He was voted moderator of the town meeting in 1777 and 1778 (when the town of Amherst voted to approve the Articles of Confederation & Perpetual Union), and voted selectman of Amherst on 9-Mar-1778. Amos Flint, Sr. wrote his will, in Amherst, on 10-Mar- 1788. It was presented for probate on 4-Nov-1797. In it, he bequeathed "unto Elizabeth Flint my beloved wife the use [and] improvement of one third part of my real Estate during her natural Life -- and all my indore [indoor] Movabels Togather with all my Carpenter and Husbandry Tools -- and all my [live-] Stock to her & her Heirs forever." "Her heirs," in this case, probably meant her children by her first marriage, and probably included Henry Treavitt, a neighboring yeoman who Amos Flint, Sr. named as executor of his estate. To each of his six eldest children by his first wife, Mary Graves, Amos Flint, Sr. left six shillings apiece, citing as he did in the case of his son, Amos Flint, Jr., "he having Receiv'd his portion [of the overall estate] in my lifetime." His youngest son by this marriage, Jacob Flint, received all his father's wearing apparel in lieu of cash. An inventory of Amos Flint, Sr.'s household was completed on 1-Feb-1798. Dower rights, confirming exactly which third of Amos Flint, Sr.'s estate belonged to his widow, were confirmed and ratified on 17-Apr-1798. They were as specific as could be: "in Said Dwelling House beginning at the Cellar under the Same to have the westernly half of the South Cellar -- the two South front Rooms on the Lower floor in Said House and the Chambers over the East Lower front Room with the Cubbard in the East Entry and priviledge of the Stairs from the Cellar to the Garrett with one third part of the Same that is to Say the Easterly End and Likewise priviledge of Bakeing in the oven [...]." She also kept a third interesting in the cider mill and the corn barn, and was specified access to grazing lands, wood for heating, and water, as determined by the court committee comprised of James Ray, Jonathan Conant, William Clark and James Woodbury [see probate file docket #03205, Hillsborough County Probate Court] Children: Amos Flint Jr. Born: 12 Mar 1743 in: Reading, Middlesex Co, MA Died: bef 10 Mar 1793 in: Amherst, Hillsborough Co, NH Buried: 1793 in: Amherst, Hillsborough Co, NH Married: 2 Sep 1785 in: Amherst, Hillsborough Co, NH Spouse: Mary "Polly" Barnard Born: bef 1757 Died: aft 1802 Judith Flint Born: 22 Feb 1744/45 in: Reading, Middlesex Co, MA Died: aft Mar 1788 Married: 22 Jun 1769 in: Reading, Middlesex Co, MA Spouse: Jonathan Proctor Elizabeth Flint Born: 24 Apr 1747 in: Reading, Middlesex Co, MA Died: 1843 Married: 19 Nov 1767 in: Reading, Middlesex Co, MA Spouse: Samuel Herrick, Jr. Born: 1745 Died: 1807 Gartrude Flint Born: 1749 in: Reading, Middlesex Co, MA Died: aft Mar 1788 Married: 8 Jan 1770 in: Reading, Middlesex Co, MA Spouse: David Mackintire Jacob Flint: Born: 1751 in: Reading, Middlesex Co, MA Died: cir 1803 in: Hillsborough Co, NH Married: Oct 1777 in: Hillsborough Co, NH Spouse: Elizabeth Bradford Mary Flint Born: 1752 in: Reading, Middlesex Co, MA Died: aft Mar 1788 Married: Spouse: ??
