Himmm, in looking through my Davis line I see several William Davis. I have one William Davis born 1834 in NC married 29 Oct 1856 Jefferson Co, IL to Mary E. Chilton. I'm not sure of their children or if he was married previously. I have another William Perry "Pinchin'" Davis b 11 May 1827 married to Margaret Jane Dagg who had a daughter name Martha Jane b 1866 (again too late to be yours) I have another one William S. Davis b 3 Sep 1816 married to a Martha (last name unknown) who is buried at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Jefferson Co, IL. Don't know who all their children are except a son named George b 1852. This seems like the most promising. I'll do around through census on ancestry.com and see if I can find the rest of their children.
