Breamfishn Dennis Johnson. OLD HOMESTEAD MAP of BRUSH CREEK TOWNSHIP which list the names of the persons owning each parcel of land. As to migration pattern, a large portion of the persons in this area either came from WASHINGTON COUNTY, IND. or SUMNER, SMITH and MACON Counties in TENNESSEE. These areas were their last HOME before arriving in IL. In the upper quadrant of BRUSH CREEK TOWNSHIP one will find persons who got off the train in XENIA, CLAY CO., IL. and they would have come more from the Eastern States of OH., PA., IND.,NJ and NY. ryan@prairienet.org (Ryan D. Neaveill) I am researching the NEAVEILL and/or NEAVILL families who lived in Wayne County mostly in Big Mound Township. The first NEAVILL to settle in Wayne County was Enoch NEAVILL who came from Kentucky around 1816 to 1818 with his wife Edith (GOODMAN) NEAVILL. Enoch had several children one of whom was my ggg grandfather Andrew J. NEAVEILL (who is apparently the first person to ever use the unusual spelling NEAVEILL it seems everyone who spells their name this way is a descendant of Andrew). Andrew J. NEAVEILL married Lucinda YOUNG who was the daughter of John YOUNG. John and his brother James YOUNG were also early settlers of Big Mound Township along with old Enoch. John YOUNG had other children among them Ewing YOUNG. Andrew NEAVEILL had several children but only two sons: Enoch Levi NEAVEILL and John Thomas NEAVEILL. These two brothers married two sisters. Enoch Levi NEAVEILL marries Mary Jane BUTLER and John Thomas NEAVEILL marries Siberia Mae BUTLER. These two girls were the daughters of Hayden BUTLER. There are other families in Wayne County who spell their name NEAVILL. It seems most of these are descendants of James NEAVILL who I suspect was either old Enoch's nephew or else his son. It is possible that James was Enoch's nephew but married one of Enoch's daughters. Also some of my own relatives chose to spell their name NEAVILL. It is actually misspelled NEAVILL on my great grandfather's tombstone even though he spelled it NEAVEILL. Anyway, if anyone wants to explore more of my genealogy in depth, check out my page at:http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/n/e/a/Ryan D Neaveill/ Also, I have some pictures on the web of some NEAVEILLs at: http://www.prairienet.org/~ryan/family.htm kjs@paonline.com (kevin) the Schrums/Shrums of Wayne County. My father was Loren Marvin Schrum, and was known as Pete to his siblings. He was born in Belle Rive, IL on 08/29/1921. He was the son of Chandler Harrison Schrum (born 07/22/1892) and Ruth Riggs Schrum, who had a total of 13 (or 14) children. Chandler was the son of John Elmer Shrum (born 04/1871 and married to Lucy Ann McCord) whose parents were Jacob "Jake" Shrum, born about 1848, and Margaret A. Laird Shrum, born 1850. Mainly, I am seeking to find the father, grandfather, etc., of Jacob "Jake" Shrum. My name is Kevin John Schrum and I live in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. kjs@paonline.com
Candee Kevin Schrum and I have since this time discovered more on our Schrum/Shrum family. Kevn not only discovered the father of Jacob Shrum, he also discovered a picture of him. Anyone interested in the Schrum/Shrum family can also contact me as Kevin as shared a lot of his info with me. My great grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth (Shrum) Davis (wife of David B. Davis) was the daughter of Jacob Shrum and Margaret Laird. I have a couple of different photos of Jacob and Margaret (Laird) Shrum I will share with other cousins. My Ryan NEaveill e-mail came back to me. Do somebody have his home address and his new e-mail. bEttie Wheat ----- Original Message ----- From: <GenealogySix@aol.com> To: <ILWAYNE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, September 24, 2004 6:19 PM Subject: [ILWAYNE-L] Migration Patterns of Wayne County, IL Posting Part 2 > Breamfishn Dennis Johnson. > OLD HOMESTEAD MAP of BRUSH CREEK TOWNSHIP which list the names of the persons > owning each parcel of land.
