Richard and Mary Grove Anderson were Baptists and they could very well have been on the wagon train. They did come from near Chester, Meigs County, Ohio and ended up in Lamard in Wayne County. Samuel and Elizabeth Campbell Groves were members of the Mt Hermon Church of the United Brethern in Meigs County. The religious differences may have been why some members of the Grove family moved and others didn't.
