    3. Just another option or thoughts. I rent the LDS original census microfilms for a small amount at the Family History Centers and read the original photgraphed census records myself. I do not trust transcribed census, there are usually mistakes in the transcriptions. When I can't read a word etc. I trace the microfilm screen image on thin paper and am usually able to figure it out later. Watch how each census taker of each census you read writes each letter, it gives clues to help in reading the films also.
