Hi Everyone, I have been researching my family for years, but my mind has drawn a blank when it comes to finding the land records for Wayne County. Can anyone help me find the records that would show how my G.G. Grandparents Charles W. and Susan (Hunsinger) Atteberry obtained the land mentioned below? Charles and Susan were married 24 August 1848 in White Co. IL. HELP PLEASE. Thanks, Lois Branch Silas Wilson who married Nancy Jane Atterberry, dau. of Reuben Atterberry, bought from Charles W & Susan (Hunsinger) Atteberry the NWNW Section 8 3s 8e dated Oct 13, 1848 and filed Feb 3, 1849 Book 54 Page 252. The Illinois land database shows Asa Haynes homesteaded this forty acres Oct 18,1836. He also homesteaded the SWNW Section 8 May 23, 1836. This is in spite of the record that a James Wilson homesteaded the entire 140 acres in 1819. How did the land move from Asa in 1836 to Chas and Susan, and then sold to Silas Wilson on 13 Oct 1848 (40 acres of land there in Wayne County, in fact at the Barnhill Road-Highway 45 intersection) --some of these people must have been related and sold within the family.
