    1. [ILWAYNE-L] Wayne Co, IL burials
    2. I have burial places and dates for some of my Wayne Co, IL ancestors LEATHERS, MCCORMACK, MCCORMICK, MCCOMMACK, MELTON, MONTGALL, BROWN, WARREN, STOGSDILL and other related SURNAMES. They were buried in JACOBS CHAPEL, BAILEY, MT. PLEASANT, POWERS/PLEASANT MOUND, WARREN/NEW CHURCH and some others in Wayne co, IL.. My lines came from Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky and Indiana to Wayne Co, ILL. We believe there was Indian blood in my Wayne Co, IL surnames lines. I put my 2nd great-grandfather William M. LEATHERS large family group photo taken abt 1909 Wayne Co, IL on the US GEN WEB WAYNE Co, IL site. They seem to have Indian features. My maternal grandmother Janie Mae (STOGSDILL) told me her mother Rose Ann (LEATHERS) STOGSDILL had Indian blood. I put my great-grandparents Charles Edward STOGSDILL & Rose Ann (LEATHERS) wedding photo on the MACON Co, IL US GEN SEB site. Rose Ann has dark hair, dark brown eyes and Indian features and William was fair skinned, blonde and blue eyed his father James Charles STOGSDILL was descended from early German line and his mother Mary Ann (FRAZEE) from early French line. Charles & Rose Ann were a nice looking contrast. They died fairly young though. My grandmother Janie Mae (STOGSDILL) was left an orphan by thirteen. Her father died in Sedro Wooley, Washington before she was even two. Her mother married again to John Calvin SHARP. Then Rose died in 1914 Wayne Co, IL buried Jacob's Chapel. I visit the graves every several years, whenever I am able to visit Illinois. I was born in Illinois. I live 1300 miles away in New Mexico though. If I can help someone from my collection from various tombstones and related families Bibles that I have hand copied from on various visits to cemeteries and family correspondence and visits, since I was twelve years old and fifty years later(now sixty-two), on these or any related or allied surnames I will try.
