Several KOONTZ families migrated in the 1830's to Wayne Co from Columbiana Co, OH and bought federal land in 1839. The KOONTZ Cemetery was undoubtedly named for John KOONTZ who owned land in that section. John KOONTZ's nephew, William ZIMMERMAN and family came to Wayne Co about 1846 from Stark Co, and other ZIMMERMAN's came about 1856 after a brief stay in Wood Co, OH. These ZIMMERMAN's had lived in Columbiana Co before moving to Stark Co, a few miles west, about 1830. I haven't looked to see why the KOONTZ's moved to Wayne Co. However, it is not unlikely that others from Columbiana Co, OH moved there about the same time. Don Zimmerman
