Vernon, IL Fred Jones Dec 5 2002 12:00AM By Fred M. Jones, 86, of Sims died 11:27 p.m. Dec. 2, 2002, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was retired from the US Postal Service and H.B. Williamson Co. Mr. Jones was born March 27, 1916, to Bathews Augustus and Stella Augusta (Smith) Jones. He married Catherine (Miller) Jones Nov. 10, 1940, in Sims; she survives. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City. The Revs. Bill Miller and Dennis Myers will officiate. Burial will be at Thomason Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Bob Jones and wife Sue of Mt. Zion; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren. Mr. Jones was a member of the Sims General Baptist Church. He was also a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
