Yes, I have seen the list on-line. I have also been to the cemetery. When I lived in St. Clair County IL I used to decorate the Hall graves on memorial day. In later years there were not many stones remaining. William and Rebecca's graved were originally back close to the fence but their broken stones were moved over next to her sister's stone. Mary Wilson was 60 in the 1880 census. I will have to go back to Family Search. Or any of you have access to this site. Put in Manerva Hall 1862 in Illinois. She will come up in the 1880 census and you can read the whole household. Lynda, Do you have an age on her (Mary E.) and the kids? I have a database on the Hall, some Kauffman, and more. I'll have to dig it out of the closet. Let's hope Candee logs in soon. Hall Gson Manerva Hall Gdaughter William Hall Gson I think these individuals are the children of William Hall and Rebecca Warfield Hall, deceased. Did the census taker assume they were grandchildren or how do they figure in with this family. Their father, William Hall, was born in Illinois in 1817. Their mother was born in Illinois also about 1821. William and Rebecca's other children would be: Nancy J. Hall who would be 33 in 1880 is not there. (I do not know whom she married) Julia Ann Hall who would be 30 is not there. (I do not know whom she married, maybe a Maulding. George M. Hall who would be 28 is not there. *my line (George M. married Margaret Elizabeth Kauffman and lived in Crouch Township) Charles Hall who would be 25 is not there. Mary Artamissa Hall who would be 21 is not there. (Mary A. married Charles Edmund Yocum and and lived near Springfield) William and Rebecca Hall are buried in Rawls cemetery. Lynda Lane Miller

Emily, The ELAM came from Virginia and were in the Fayette, Bond & Montgomery area by 1820s. I don't know how early the MATTHEWS came in, but they probably came from VA or TN. If you want to e-mail me your direct line of ancestry, I will be happy to check my files for any connecytions. I don't have a direct line of MATTHEWS, but I have two direct lines of ELAM. My father Clarence Lloyd HIMES and my paternal grandmother Morna Eveline (BESS) were born in Fayette Co, IL I and my mother Ella Mae (MARSH) was born in Macon Co, Illinois Co, IL. My maternal grandmother Janie Mae (STOGSDILL) was born in Wayne Co, IL. My paternal grandfather Ernest William HIMES was born in Shelby Co, IL. Mill Shoals is due south of Barnhill, just on the other side of the county line from Wayne County. If your looking for records from way back when, you should probably check Wayne and White county. Same goes for newspaper records. -----Original Message----- From: Sandy Bauer [mailto:sandyebauer@comcast.net] Sent: Monday, September 20, 2004 4:45 PM To: ILWAYNE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [ILWAYNE-L] web page My mistake, you are correct. I better let someone better informed respond in the future. Mills Shoals is in the northwest corner of White County near Wayne/Hamilton county lines. I should have looked at my cemetery map before I spoke. It's clearly marked on there! Sorry about that.
