    3. My gr gr grandfather was William Hall b. IL 1817 married Rebecca Warfield b. 1821 IL in 1842 in Hamilton County IL. Rebecca Warfield was the daughter of John and Rebecca (Watson/Ward?) Warfield. Their children were: (I'm doing this from memory so I may omit something) James Hall b. 1845 Nancy J. b. 1847 Julia Ann b. 1850 George M. b. 1852 (my gr grandfather m. Margaret Ellen Kaufman) Charles b. 1855 Leonard b. 1857 Artamissa b. 1859 William b. ? William Hall served in the Civil War and died after 1870. Rebecca died between 1870 and 1880. Mary E. Wilson born in Ohio ( Is she the Mary E. Hall who was mentioned with J. T. Hall's will and estate in Wayne County)is found in the 1880 census with the remainder of the single children of William and Rebecca Hall. When did J. T. Hall die? I do not know who the White County Halls are. The will that is listed below is of Rebecca Warfield Hall's father John Warfield. His heirs are listed. I am trying to find out if Julia Hall who married Garrett Maulding was a sister to my William Hall. A relative told me that William and one sister came into Hamilton County from another county or area in IL. I do not know where that is. I think it may have been the Sangamon County area. Does anyone know if the White County Halls are related to the Hamilton County Halls? I seem to remember my mother speaking of a cousin, Clarence Hall. Not sure about that. 1. Halls
    2. There is an estate file in box 1, 13 (one of the oldest boxes that survived the fire) in Wayne County Illinois for J. T. Hall and the administrator of this estate is Mary E. Hall. I have a problem with the children that continually are attributed to William Hall and Rebecca Warfield. In the 1870 census these are the children that are listed and they don't match up in time and birth to the ones that are posted 1. JOHN1 WARFIELD died January 19, 1854 in Hamilton County, Illinois. He married REBECCA .......... She was born Abt. 1800 1, and died Aft. 1854 2. Children of JOHN WARFIELD and REBECCA ......... are: 2. i. REBECCA2 WARFIELD, b. 1830, Illinois; d. Aft. 1854. ii. WILLIAM WARFIELD. iii. JOHN W. WARFIELD. Generation No. 2 2. REBECCA2 WARFIELD (JOHN1)3 was born 1830 in Illinois3, and died Aft. 1854. She married WILLIAM HALL3,4 June 23, 1842 in Hamilton County, Illinois4. He was born 1821 in Tennessee5. Notes for REBECCA WARFIELD: There are Anderson's in the 1870 White County, IL census with William and Rebecca Hall. Oldest Anderson is Solomon age 17, b. in 1853 in Indiana. If Mary is the parent of all these children, she would have been 18 when the first (Solomon R.) was born. 1. Maulding family
    2. Sandy Bauer
    3. Pat Anderson helped me a lot with my Maulding family going back to Richard Maulding. I'm descended from Lea Maulding mentioned below. Here's link to Pat's homepage and quotes from it:: http://members.aol.com/patander73/home.html "Richard Maulding arrived in Virginia about 1701 from Barbados where he had been an officer in the Governors guard. He was a resident of King William County, Virginia and later Caroline County, Virginia, Southwest of current Bowling Green, Virginia. He was an early merchant in Caroline County at the Chesterfield Settlement and a magistrate at establishment of Caroline and Orange Counties, Virginia. He was a land holder in 1717 of 600 acres in King William County between Mattaponi River, and the Reedy Swamp adjacent Nicholas Dillard, Richard Turner, Christopher Smith, William Cockerham, Richard Yarbrough, & Paul Pigg's line. Later he added land on Mattaponi River, about 3/4 mile above Powell's Ford and in St. John's Parish, on SE side of Down's Branch and in St. Margaret's Parish, on Maple Swamp, Nw side of Maple Run, in the Mine line. His land holdings expanded into Spotsylvania County by 1728 in St. George's Parish, in the first fork of Rappidan River, corner of Thomas Weyland and in St. George's Parish, in the upper fork of Robinson River, called Malden's Fork. adj. William Duff's land. He was thereafter present in Caroline County in St. Margaret's Parish, adj. land whereon he liveth, Richard Land, lines of Marsh, and Stanfield, by the main road. Richard was married to a Susannah ? who is listed with him as a headright in the 1701 patent, but may have remarried several times after her. His children were; John Maulding, Sarah Maulding, Richard Maulding,Jr., and unknown daughter Maulding, William Maulding, Susannah Maulding, and James Maulding. James Maulding was born about 1725 in Caroline County, Virginia the son of Richard Maulding. I have not yet had the opportunity to develop information about his early life there. <> By 1777 James had left to go to Western North Carolina in the area now Hawkins County, Tennessee where he was one of the authors of the constitution of "refused" state of Franklin. He was also a signer of the Cumberland Compact. By 1780 he had 640 acres on the middle fork of the Red River in Davidson County, TN. In the 1790 surveys showed that his land was in Logan County, Kentucky. James Maulding married Caty Tyler in Virginia the daughter of William Tyler of Caroline County and had children Ambrose, Morton, Frances, Richard, Wesley, Jane and Mary Maulding. James Maulding died in 1797 in Logan County, Kentucky. Ambrose Maulding was born August 01, 1755 in Virginia the son of James Maulding, and died August 26, 1833 in Hamilton County, Illinois. He married (1) Peggy ?in Virginia or Hawkins County, Tennessee. He was present in hawkisn County in the 1770's and in the 1780 helped his father and brothers establish Maulding's Station the earliest settlement in current Logan County, Kentucky. He married (2) Mary Purdy February 19, 1801 in Logan County, Kentucky. Ambrose was a court Judge in Logan County and shortly after marrying his second wife moved northweesward to Henderson County, Kentucky and subsequently acroos the Ohio River to the vicinity of present McLeansboro, Illinois The descendants of Ambrose are documented in _Ambrose Maulding, Ancestors, Descendants, & Kinsfolk_, by Paul Kornmeyer, Denzil R. Mauldin, Ruth Maulding Adams, Flossie Gibbs Anderson, (Rev. 1975-79), Arranged by Denzil R. Mauldin, April 20, 1981, Valdez, Alaska. The children of Ambrose Maulding and Peggy ? are: i. Ennis4 Maulding, born 1783; died Abt. 1843. He married Fanny Crissel April 14, 1804 in Logan County, Kentucky. ii. Mourning Maulding, born October 05, 1784 in Logan County, Kentucky; died September 13, 1846 in Hamilton County, Illinois. iii. Lea Maulding, born June 04, 1789; died August 19, 1859. iv. James William Maulding, born March 18, 1790 in Logan County, Kentucky; died April 11, 1853 in Hamilton County, Illinois. He married Margaret Crissel April 11, 1809 in Logan County, Kentucky. v. Richard M. Maulding, born 1793. He married Elizabeth Griffith August 04, 1817 in White County, Illinois. vi. John Wesley Maulding, born 1795 in Logan County, Kentucky; died Aft. 1860 in Arkansas. The children of Ambrose Maulding and Mary Purdy are: i. William4 Maulding, born January 16, 1802 in Logan County, Kentucky; died September 05, 1883 in Hamilton County, Illinois.
