Hi, To those I owe emails to, my computer is going bye-bye. Too many problems. I should have my new one up and running in three weeks. Will try to catch up on emails then. God Bless and have a great Thanksgiving, Lois Branch
I sent a post a few days ago but don't see it posted. I found on another site where a Teresa Staggs, stated she had a copy of a letter To Jacob O. Feather from his Father, Congratlating him on his marriage to Martha Matilda Copeland, She indicated she was a decendant of Richard Beason Richardson Feather Son of Jacob and Matilda, I would like very much to get a copy of this letter. Teresa mentioned she was going to the Feather Reunion in Kinmundy, I have not been able to get in touch with her. I am posting in hopes someone knows how to get in touch or perhaps she will see this post. I am Grt. Grandson of Polly Ann Feather Johnson Turner. Thanks, George Turner

A visit to Hopewell cemetery today was very refreshing. Since I was last there a few years ago, someone has added a new, vinyl fence around the entire cemetery and the cemetery itself is in great shape. Whatever group, organization, person or persons responsible deserve a special thanks and recognition for a great job!
Does anyone know if the Brehm Library has telephone directories or any books that would help me find who was living at this address in July 1924? I am trying to locate a death certficate for my great grandfather mentioned in this newspaper article below. I've sent to the state of Missouri for death certificate for Saxton, Buchanan Co, MO but they could not find a record of John Whalen death there. I would like to know which of his daughters was living at 307 South 12th St, Mt. Vernon in July 1924. He had the following daughters: Laura Belle, Clara Delle, Elva Florence, Golda Jane and Nora Myrtle Whalen. I'm also confused about the count of children in the newspaper article. He actually had more chidlren alive at this date than indicated. He had six sons alive and all five of his daughters. I do not believe this is a different John Whalen as my grandmother's records indicate John William Whalen died in July 1924 and I've been to Farnsworth and he is indeed buried next to his wife, Mary Susan Maulding who died in 1901. Here's what the newspaper has: *Monday, July 14, 1924 Mt. Vernon, IL Register, Page 4 John Whalen, Who Died in Missouri is Buried Today The body of John Whalen was received from Saxton, Mo., Saturday. The body was taken to the home of his daughter, 307 South 12th street. Mr. Whalen's age was 75y 8m 20d. He is survived by three daughters and two sons. Burial was had today at Farnsworth Cemetery, north of Keenes. * -- Sandy (Whalen) Bauer http://www.whalen-family.org "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - What a Ride!"

I am trying to get in touch with Teresa Staggs, she left a post on another site indicating she had a letter written in 1831 to Jacob O. Feather from his Father Congratulating him on his marriage to Martha Matilda Copeland, she indcated she was a decendant of Richard Beason Richardson Feather who was a son of Jacob O. Feather. I would love to get a copy of this letter, I think it might be helpfull in determing Jacob's parents. any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, George Earl Turner Grt. Gnd. Is anyone researching the Camp families in Wayne County. I am related to "Camp" but in PA., WV, and OH. But thought I might compare notes if someone knows where their Camp ancestors migrated from to Wayne County. Jeanne

Hi, Listed in Maple Hill Cemetery is Callie Borah Baker, born 30 July 1870, Fairfield, IL; died in childbirth 31 July 1892, married 8 April 1891, George Baker. Can anyone please give me Callie's parents and identify which line George Baker belongs to. Thanks, Lois Branch
Earlier this year I ordered some newspaper microfilms from the Ill. State Hist. Soc, and they can not tell you before ordering what is on the film. I got McHenry Co. newspapers, and they had 2 or 3 years on a film. The limit to order is 5, and I ordered what I thought was 5, but since they had more on the film, I only wound up with 3 films. There were other years I wanted, so must reorder. anyway, it was only about $5 for all 3 microfilms and they were wonderful. I took a trip back into time. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jeanne Delaney To: ILWAYNE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Monday, November 01, 2004 6:49 PM Subject: [ILWAYNE-L] INTERLIBRARY LOAN OF WAYNE COUNTY NEWSPAPER MICROFILMS Since we can now again get Wayne County newspaper microfilms through interlibrary loan from the "Illinois State Historical Library" I went to look up what I want. I can only find the dates for the Wayne County newspaper and nothing to indicate what paper dates are on one microfilm together. Is this the way it's always been? I could have sworn before that at least it told you what dates were together on a microfilm. Or maybe I'm thinking of familysearch.org. Can anyone help? Jeanne

I have access to these census. What would you like for me to do? Mary White R. --------------- Wayne Co., IL Researchers If there are a few people that have access to ancestry.com or genealogy.com census and could help proof read, could you contact me? Because of the hardship to read a census I thought it be best to have a few people to. Thanks!
