    3. I have a lot of Martins in my family line. They do seem to intertwine a lot with the White, Owen and Crews families. I know these Martins must connect up somewhere, but I have very little information on the parentage of most of them. Here are some names and information of my Martins, if anyone knows anything more about them, I'd love to hear from you!: -James D. Martin, b. abt 1818, mrd Jane White abt 1840 -Nathan Martin, b. abt 1809 in KY, son of James B. Martin (I have no information on James B. his wife, or other children) -Nancy Martin mrd to William Crews (son of Richard Crews of Virginia) -William J. Martin, b. abt 1854; mrd Wilmoth Ann White on 7 Feb 1875 in Posey Co., Ind. Wilmoth died Oct 1875. -Nancy Martin, mrd Richard Owen abt 1805 in Halifax Co., VA Thanks bunches, Mary (White) R. ~ There's a difference between trying to be "the best" simply being YOUR best! ~ ~ ~ Pray for our brave soldiers at war. ~ ~ ~ ~ Support Care2 Email: 1,400 whales may be killed this year. 3. My Smothers kin and a woman named Lucy Vaughn and her three sons, Cyrus, Hiram, and Jesse Vaughn, moved from middle Tennesse (Sumner/Macon County area) to Wayne County, Illinois, about 1855. In fact Cyrus Vaughn married Susan Smothers, believed to be the daughter of my ggg grandfather, Edmond Smothers. The following link will take you directly to my on-line web page for Lucy Vaughn. Perhaps you will find a connection. There were other Vaughns in 19th century Wayne/Clay/Marion Counties, but I do not have much on them except where they married into my family. http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=edmond-smothers&id=I175 Bill Smothers Delaware Wayne M. 1. re: BULLARD Family Book
    2. Hi all, I will soon be placing an order for a third printing of my book, “William and Nathan Bullard Family History and Genealogy”. This is for those who have already contacted me requesting a book but if anyone else would like to be included, this is your opportunity. I have placed a copy recently in the Wayne County Public Library. Copies also are in the Mt. Vernon and Albion Libraries. I expect the cost (small order) to be $40.00 per book plus $5.00 for packaging and mailing single books. For multiple books, packaging and mailing is about $5.00 for first plus $1.00 for each additional book. E-mail me personally if you desire more information. If you know of anyone who may want a book, ask them to contact me asap. I do know that the Dallas, TX library would like to have a gift copy. I can’t accommodate any more gifts in my budget. Sincerely yours, Spencer A. Bullard

    2. Sandy Bauer
    3. Thanks to George Gregory, we now have more photos and names posted for Egbert Cemetery: I believe we have now captured all there is in this cemetery. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne/cem/egbert/ This cemetery is located about 2 miles west of Keenes on Rt. 15. I'll have the photos for Zion Cemetery, Hickory Hill Twp. posted later this evening. Again, thank to George Gregory for these photos as well. What's coming ??? George also photographed Garrison Temple and I'll be working on that cemetery next. Anyone else making a trip to Wayne County that wants to photograph cemeteries, let me know. It's so great when we can get voluneers to photograph these old cemeteries. Remember many of these cemeteries are deteriorating rapidly and we need to get them photographed while we can still find the stones and read them. Sandy

    2. Sandy Bauer
    3. Wayne County Researchers I want to apologize for all of you that might have tried to reach me by clicking on the link for my name on the cemetery pages. I didn't realize I hadn't updated my email address after I changed to a new internet service provider back in October 2004. I've now updated all the cemetery pages with my correct email address. We have some new info coming in for Egbert, Garrison Temple, Zion cemeteries. George Gregory has been busy photographing cemeteries. Stay tuned to see the new info posted soon. I sure appreciate help from anyone that can spare the time and photograph cemeteries. Thanks to all of you that been helping me get the cemetery info online. -- Sandy (Whalen) Bauer http://www.whalen-family.org "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - What a Ride!"

    3. Laurel Yes, the newspapers do not go back that far (yet)... I only have up to 1874 copied. When I get all the copies, I will start to transcribe for the web. BUT! (ha!) Doris Bland did a book, Newspaper Gleaning 1876-1879. In that book there is an 'abstract obit'. I will ask Cindy or Slim if they can go to the library to get a copy of the complete obit for you. The obit is found in and from Doris book reads: Wayne County Press January 30, 1879 "... Mrs. Richards, wife of Hon. D. M. Richards. This estimable lady died on Monday afternoon between four and five o'clock ... Mrs. Richards was the daughter of the Hon. Tilghman Grice, of Georgetown, Ohio, a name and family universally honored in the Buckeye State. Mr. Grice subsequently removed to Xenia, Illinois, and it was here that Mr. Richards first became acquainted with his future wife ... Mrs. Richards an only child, a beautiful young daughter now but little over three years of age ... Cindy or I will contact you about going to the library to get a complete copy for you. Hope this helps for now. Thanks! Dianna Coordinator Wayne Co., ILGen Web

    1. Richards mystery
    2. Hi List, My husband's family in Wayne Co. is Townsend and Sarah Mcneely Richards, who came to Wayne Co in about 1838-39. I believe I have accounted for all their children. However, I have a mystery that I need some help unraveling. Three of Townsend's sons went to Colorado. David M., and James W. born 1836 and 1839, respectively, were what we in Colorado call '59er, having come for the gold rush. Their half-brother John joined them in about 1879. Here is the mystery. David M. Richards is buried in Riverside Cemetery in Denver. His wife, Samantha Grice, died January 20, 1879 and is buried there too. Next to her is a grave marker with M. Richards, Died Jan 21, 1879 at age 40. There is no other information. I can't figure out who this is. I know your site is posting newspaper items, but I don't think you have that far back posted. I know there was an obit for Samantha. Does anyone have access to the Wayne Co newspaper about that time that might have an item on the death of this M. Richards in Colorado? So wierd that he/she is a Richards and died one day after Samantha. Its driving me crazy. Just a shot in the dark. Thanks for any help. Laurel in Colorado
