All Just wanted to let you all know that Dianna has lost her internet connection because someone hit a pole on her street. She said they don't expect to have it fixed until Wednesday. Sandy
Sorry Carolyn, but I get to keep Elizabeth in my family. George Wilkinson married Elizabeth Dye, sister of Jesse and Thomas Dye and Matilda Jane Dye Leak Spriggs. Do you need dates for Ritner? I think he is buried at Phillipsburg and I have the cemetery book. I have the 1880 complete census put out by the LDS. I looked at the neighbors of my relatives (which were the other three) to see what Smith was living there and then I looked to see if I could find him in Wayne Co., and it just clicked as names matched. Towanda Township, Phillips Co., Kansas (this is south of Logan) Ritner J. Smith 41 OH NJ PA Elizabeth L. 39 OH PA OH Wayne A. 10 IL OH OH Ernest E. 8 IL OH OH Dempsey D. 4 IL OH OH Ross J. 1 KS OH OH Della Clevenger 14 IL PA OH -------sister-in-law, thus you know what was Elizabeth's maiden name. I don't remember why we were corresponding, but I have a ton of people I am working on in Wayne Co., so we will probably cross again. I have another lady that keeps popping up in various counties around the country. We are not related in any way, but her people married relatives of my relatives -- so is fun. Jerilyn
Wayne Co., IL Researchers This is still under construction but the ILGenWeb now has its own domain. The NEW URL is: http://www.ilgenweb.net/ People are still going to www.rootsweb.com/~ilwayne and searching for data. PLEASE, 90% of the free data has been moved! Look for the "new spinner" Wayne Co., ILTrails and click or go to http://www.iltrails.org/Wayne I will try to complete all the link checks today. I uploaded several items but checking the links. Thanks to one very generous Census CD owner in Wayne County, won't mention any names MIKE! In 1880 one Steven SHEHORN grandson age 5 was living with my great grandmother Catherine SPICER/TAYLOR/WARREN in Indian Prairie, I know I remember seeing someone researching the SHEHORN lineage..another sprig for your tree! One William DAILEY father in law age 86 from VA was living with his daughter Martha TAYLOR also in Indian Prairie... My big surprise and also my excitement was the finding of of William C Taylor the son of Catherine SPICER(d 1910) and George William TAYLOR(d 1879). He is my grandfather and I see that he was married to someone named Sarah ? from IL and they had a son George W TAYLOR b. 1873 and a daughter Mary A TAYLOR born 1877! I would assume that William and Sarah were married around 1872-73. This all happened around Brush Creek. I find it touching that he named his son George W after his father. My quest is to find out what happened to Sarah and the children after 1880, because somehow William C ends up over in Alexander County IL in 1912 marrying my grandmother Mary A Garneau/Gurnow. There was never mention of other children by him other than my father. There is also a confusing marriage record of another William C TAYLOR marrying a Minnie Quasebarthe(nothing on this name anywhere!) in 1890. Don't know yet if they are the same Williams or not. Hopefully someone will keep an eye out for TAYLOR surnames popping up while they are searching for their own lineages..maybe they married one of the locals! Freida Marie Taylor

Wayne Co., IL Researchers Just to let you know some Military updates have been done, as Blackhawk War, Korean War, and Span-Amer- War. You'll find them on the Wayne Co./ILTrails site. Don't forget to send Sandy your Cem. data and if you have a photo of the stone, send it too. She says she is bored! (not really ... almost though). Okay gang! I am trying to beat a record!! This coming Sunday, my goal is to upload 50 obits, 50 bios, and 25 FGS. To meet the goal, I need more of each sent to me. It is easier to do one large upload than several small ones, so come on gang! Send them to me! NOTE: Am I crazy or what?! ha!) BTW, I have been sick with the flue. Last night I fell over the cat and dog (running to ... ) and 'cracked' 4 bones! Got a 'soft' cast, like a sprain on. Gee, can't even get anyone to sign that! ha... So, all I have to do now is work on this and sleep, so please keep me busy! Thanks! Susan I too agree. I am so impressed with how much Dianna has contributed to making the Wayne County website and list help all of us connect our families together. Dianna I have some Miller family from Jefferson Co, IL but don't have enough information to connect to your Miller. Here's what I have (only because of the connection to the Horton family. Especially D1anna who keeps this list going for us. My roll call posting brought good leads on three lines -- TAYLOR, MILLER, TOMLINSON. Christmas comes more than once a year for a lucky genealogist! Susan Selders Evans (who is grinning from ear to ear)
Carolyn and Wayne Co. IL Researchers I have been gotten 73 email in 2 days from people asking about FGS, Civil War info, Censuses, and etc. When Carolyn wrote: > On the Illinois Trails page, I am not clear > on what genealogy information is available > through that site. A hammer hit me! Ouch! Ha! Now I understand. People are not taking the time to read what has and is happening. The Wayne Co., ILGenWeb on rootsweb has been changed to meet the requirements of the ILGenWeb and USGenWeb bylaws. All data not under the bylaws have been moved to a different 'Free Data Web Site', ILTrails.org. You now have 2 Genealogy web sites for Wayne Co., IL. Carolyn, IF you went over to http://www.ilrails.org/Wayne you would not have written: > I am not clear on what genealogy information > is available What is available is 'free data' that was on Wayne Co., ILGenWeb Site, hosted by rootsweb, is NOW ON ILTrails. Please folks, understand, Wayne Co. now you have 2 web sites to visit and do your research. Any item that is NOT linked on either site is because it has to be modified for the move. Thanks! Susan, do you know where they came from back east? William ZIMMERMAN m. Sophia BROWN 27 Apr 1843 in Paris Twp, Stark Co, Ohio. They came to Wayne Co between 1845 and 1847, apparently following William's KOONTZ relatives. (Note the "T" in KOONTZ.) The ZIMMERMAN and KOONTZ families had lived in Columbiana Co, Ohio, with my Zims moving to Stark Co about 1830. Several KOONTZ families first bought land in Wayne Co in 1839.
