    1. [ILWAYNE-L] Sarah King
    2. Recently, I saw this posting on the Wayne Co. list: Hello Janis! I do have a couple of John Trotters but none that match up with your info. Looking at my file, the only Trotter I have in Wayne County is William Joseph Trotter B:1760 D:March 18,1830 in Wayne County. He was married to Sarah King and together they had 12 children: Charles Otis Susanna Elisha B James F George Mary Thomas Archibald (My ancestor) Isham Robert Shirley Jasper Rebecca William Does anyone have more information on Sarah King or on any Kings that were in Wayne Co. before 1840. I am a descendant of John King and Susannah Beach. I know that Enoch was Susannah's brother, but I hope to find some other Kings that are connected to John. John and Susannah were in White County in about 1818/1819. I think that there was a William in White Co. at about that time, but have been unable to learn more about him. Dorris [email protected]

    3. Minniesoda and Janis I have info on the Smith and Trotter lines. If you send me what you are looking for I might be able to help. Minniesoda, a few weeks ago there was someone posting about John R. Smith. Did you see that post email? If not, I'll send you a copy and look for the person that sent it. He has several good questions on John R. Smith and families. Janis, send me info you are looking for on your Trotter. IF I have it tied to this Smith line, I'll send email to both of you. Thanks! 3. Wayne Co., IL Researchers I "think" I checked all the links that are on the Index page and to the best of my knowledge, they work. Now I have to fix each page that is displayed on the right side, as removed icons of the ILGenWeb, USGenWeb, and rootsweb. When I do this, I will test each link from there. In the meantime, in case anyone is ahead of me and find a link not working, please let me know. I will be gone the last week of July to go to Fairfield and look for a house. Yes, I am still planning to move there. I hope doing so we will get more data on the site. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks! Dianna -- Thanks! 3. Wayne County Researchers, Just to let you know the Wayne Co., IL Genealogy Web Site, ILGenWeb, has just received a new face lift. NOT ALL the links are working yet. I am still testing links! Please be patience with me as I continue to test each link. If you find a link not working, send me email, list the item in the index you clicked on and the error message you got. Your help is very appreciated! Why the change? During the shuffle of switching web sites, some files got lost. To help locate missing files I had to do major house cleaning on the file system was done first. Most of the missing files were found and applied to this newer look. As soon as I get all the links working, I will start updating all the obits, bios, and fgs that I have received. Keep sending them to me so I can keep updating. Thanks! 1. [ILWAYNE-L] STEVENS
    2. This note was found with some old pictures of family. It was written by my grandmother, Alice Manerva Carson Spalding, born 1874 in Wayne County; died 1959 in Granite City, IL. She was the daughter of Manerva Stevens and Isaac Booth Carson. "Zachariah Stevens (Ohio) and Anna Kendrick (Ky) were parents of 9 children. [The nine looks smudged and darker, like it was changed. Only eight children are listed.] Mahala Sally Polly Rachel Manerva Franklin Henry Joe My mother [Manerva] was the youngest. She died in 1917 at age 84. Her mother died at age 87" [end of writing] According to what I have found, Sally married (1) Taylor (2) Freer; Rachel married Drake; Polly married Nickell; Mahala married Harlin. Polly Nickell and Mahala Harlin gave depositions so that their mother could get a pension for Zachariah Steven's War of 1812 service. I suppose that the Nickells and Harlins lived in Wayne County, IL. A William Stevens testified that he was present at the marriage of Zachariah Stevens and Anna Kendrick, which took place in KY. William Stevens must have lived in Wayne County, IL also. Alice

    3. Wayne Co., IL Researchers This is to let you know that I am going to be working on the Wayne Co., IL site tonight. When we moved off the ILL Trail site, most of those files never got uploaded over here. Therefore, I will be putting on a new index page (on the left), and modified page on the right, and many files that have not been on for a while. If you are on the site during this time (10:00 pm - 12:00) and have problems, please hang in there until I send email stating I am done. After I upload all the pages, I have to test each page to make sure it works. There are over several thousands of pages. If you should come across one that does not work, help me out by sending me email ... list which link you clicked on. Thanks! Where would I find if he is buried there? Thanks, margaret M arion Farris wrote: >At one time, part of Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield had an area reserved for veterans. 3. I may have opened a can of worms here. I have not been in Wayne County for some time and can't tell you much more than the veterans area of Maple Hill Cemetery is on the south side of the cemetery. I knew several people that were buried in the veterans area of the cemetery. Doris Bland and or the Wayne County Library have cemetery records. The courthouse, along with most of the public records, was destroyed by fire in 1885, or there about. Good Luck. Marion Farris
